led shifter install
I got a shift **** from ebay that has LEDs under the 12345R markings and am having a bit of trouble getting it power. I want to connect it so that it lights up when I turn on my dashboard illumination (guages etc) but I dont know which wires are the ones that send power to that area. Any tips on how to hook this up or know of any links/websites that detail this process? Thx
Do you know how to use a voltmeter or a electrical test light? You can use either of those and probe the radio plug. I think there is a wire in there that provides power to the radio to light it up when you turn on the headlights. IF not, then there is a wire near the fusebox that powers up the gauges when the headlights are on.
if its the same as my prelude (which it most likely is) the wire you're looking for is Red/Blk.. not to be confused with Blk/Red..[the red/blk has a thin line of black where as blk/red has a thin line of red] ..oh, and it's under the dash.
just tap that as your 12v. signal and the light on your shifter will illuminate only when you have the lights on (even just your corner lights).
haha..sorry for bringing it up from the dead..i was doin a search on leds and thought i could help out.
