What do you guys think of this setup for an Integra?
A set of focal components up front, alpine components set for the rears (without installing the tweets since they are currently in my doors now), and an IDQ 10" in the back.
Im not sure what amps I need, But I think Im going to go with 2 separate units, and they must have good clean quality sound.
What do you guys think and suggest for this?

Sounds like a good setup to me, just make sure you mount the speakers properly and replace those crappy plastic factory mounts with wood.
Can't go past Alpine for good clean quality sound but thats just my opinion.

y would u use focal in the front and alpine in the rear? i would imagine that the alpines would interrupt with the focals. instead, y dont u just run a focal 3 way set. stick the midbass in the rear? if u plan on running focal components, run a better amp than alpine, rf or kenwood. also, try to match ur amps, dont use one amp for sub and a different brand for highs. i would suggest eclipse or arc audio. if u even want to go to a better setup, get front kick panels and stick a 3 way set in there. i can provide all these items for u if u'd like. let me know if ur interested
I like the focal 3 way idea. But put the drivers in kicks and the midbasses in the door like it is meant to be. Biamping the midbass seperate from the mid/tweet would be nice if possible. Use stock rear speakers connected to the HU.
i dont want to put in kick panels, im using stock mounting points
right now the 6.5 alpines are in my doors with a 1 inch mdf spacer that I made, really tight fit...
in terms of power, i just want clean sound, im never going to be turning it up loud enough to need extra power, just enough to have better than HU sound
the alpines in the rear would just be for fill off of the HU, the focal comps would be going through an amp

i have this one for cheep...alpine 3553 4 channel https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=564546 good clean sound, all in one unit.you could use it like, 2 channels for front, head unit for rears and bridge the other 2 channels for sub.or run all 4 speakers.
get the focal polykevlar 3way, you won't need a sub. just make sure your amp will power them... get a 4 channel and run the alpines off of the amp too, you'll have excellent bass reproduction with that.
edit, don't forget to deaden the doors.
I wish I could get kevlars... I'm stuck with glass for now.

sounds like a nice set up...I would just eliminate the rear speakers an concentrate on your front stage...If done properly you won't need rear fill....saome nice clean ams are the Zapco Comp amps...run them with the SX-Sl and two of the 1/3 octave eq's and spend some time dialing in the system....I ran those amp with the eq's and never had a better system......

That sounds awsome.

well...between th2 companies you've mentioned i'd pick alpine components for the front and nothign for the rear. I've heard focals and though they are loud and clear, i find the tweeter to be a little much at high volumes. i'd look into the alpine type X or type X flagship line. I have the 6.5" components and even though i'm not finished installing them they sound amazing.
btw i'm giving them 130W rms a side

I currently have the type R's and I like the way they sound. The tweet is just enough. I looked at their site, and they have 2 and 3 ways components. I dont want to mess with finding extra mounting locations and im not going to EQ competitions so I think the 2 way's will be enough for me
This looks like a decent place I found them from: Etronics - http://www.etronics.com/produc...me=48
I've bought from them in the past and they have very good, quick service.
The model number is Alpine SPX-F17M
Right now Im looking at a 2 channel amp that will give me 120 at 4 ohm and 210 at 2 ohm per channel. Im hoping that will be enough for these speakers.
What do you guys think?

I have tried to find out the RMS for these speakers and found this in the owners manual: "Power Handling (peak/RMS) 300/75W" (found: http://ecominet2.alpine-usa.co...m.pdf)
To me this seems almost impossible for the flagship component set from alpine.
Can someone elxplain this?

What is wrong with 75 watts rms? Since it will do 300 peak, you can probably get away with more power. The rms ratings don't get higher just because you spent more money. The SQ should improve though

I thought the SQ of a speaker depends on the amount of power it requires.
I want to get an amp tjat puts out 120 at 4 ohm or 210 at 2 ohm per channel, will I be able to use this amp on these speakers safely without blowing them?

Yea, but those are rated for 60w at 4 ohm, I want to feed more power, 120w, to speakers that only ask for an RMS of 75.

it's bi-amped though which means i'm using two channels for each side. so in theory, i'm giving each side 120W.

SQ has nothing to do with power handling. SPL and power handling can be related though, as long as you don't get to extreme. Then you have other problems to deal with.
Some companies underate their components. My diamond hexes say they have a 100 watt rating. My manual says that tweet and woofer each can handle 90 watts form memory, now diamond has bumped the rating on their website to 150.
RMS is the amount the set should be able to handle for extended times. Ever heard 100 watts through a pair of components for an extended time. Your head might explode

Get the set of alpines or a set of boston acoustics? both 2 ways

Dont have any decent audio shops around my way....
The best shop, is fullly of cocky little ***** who only want to talk to you if you are a wigga in an expedition who wants a few 15" subs...
I ruled out focals because many folks said that the tweeters were very high. So I have to go for something with subltle highs and good over all sound. Ill have a single 10, probably an IDQ.
