Default CR-VTEC Frankenstein questions

Ive read some info about this type of engine, and I was very impressed with the numbers I saw on the dyno readings. What do I need to buy to do this type of buildup? Do any of you know anyone in Southern California capable of doing it? Im pretty much set on doing this, if I wasnt Id just buy a B18C5 and be done with it. I want a challenge, and I want to wipe the floor with this damn focus that keeps bugging the hell out of me. I know power costs money, so please just tell me or point me in the right direction to find the optimal configuration.

Forget the B20 buildup if you can buy a B18C5. The ITR will make more reliable high RPM power at the slight disadvantage to less torque.
good luck,
Jared

A friend of mine has been doing B20-VTEC swaps for a while. His usually make around 240 to the wheel using all stock Honda parts. You basically start off with a B20B or B20Z shortblock, new pistons, and a B16A head with Type R cams.

I am located in Los Angeles and I can build you what you want. If you are serious about building a B20vtec email me at Brandon@Team-Evolution.net or IM me.

Yeaaa...and Im gonna have to go ahead and call bullshit on that.
First of all...you contridicted yourself..."using all stock Honda parts" then you go ahead and say "new pistons"?

You can go to a Honda dealership and buy new pistons... that qualifies as OEM and new doesn't it? (Of course, you have to decide WHICH piston to get... B18C1, B18C5, B16A, etc etc etc.) A 240 hp B20 VTEC isn't unheard of you know.

Bwahahaha...hold on let me catch my breath....hahahahahhahaha.

Boy...youre compression is sure gonna be low and you're gonna have ALOT of blow-by with 81mm pistons in a 84mm cylinder.

HAHAHA...
Yes you are right. I was only meaning to yank your chain and now I feel kinda dumb for writing that, ESPECIALLY because I already knew the B20's have an 84 mm bore!

Heh...all good.

On a serious note..I know B20VTEC s can make 240 WHP..but fully built and not on all OEM parts. 12.0:1 CR pistons, forged rods, fully built head, etc etc.

The stock rods cannot really handle high RPM... the B20 piston is too heavy...
The way my friend builds them (when using stock rods according to race rules) he machines the big end with 0.002" crush... at high RPM abuse the big ends stretch to round... CRAZY. If rules say "stock pistons" the B20Z pistons are used and machined for larger intake valve reliefs for piston-to-valve clearance...

My friend has a 1998 Honda CRV. He would like to put on a b16a head, probably with type r cams. It will definitly be a crazy SUV! What would we need. I have the head already, what intake, injectors should I use. Can the CRV intake and injectors be used? Which Ecu should I use, the CRVs and add a switch for vtec??? What pistons should I use for better performance, he doesn't really want to spend too much on pistons though???? Can the stock pistons be used and how much compression would that five. Also, would I use the stock CRV water pump and timing belt and what about the oil pump?

Any input would be very apprecitated! In advance thank you.
