Sometimes my car wont start, it will crank but then it wont start especially on hot days. I wait a few minutes then it will start. I had this problem for 3 years, but now that method of waiting a few minutes doesn't work anymore. I can push start the car. I thought it was vapor lock so i opened the gas cap to let the pressure out but that doen't work. if i dont hear a whirring sound when i turn my key to position 2, is it my fuel pump then?

my 90 w/b16a was doing the same thing...it was the main relay...we tested it like the shop manual said, and it passed, but that's because the failure is intermittent...replaced it anyways and haven't had a problem since.

 

thanks guys i replaced my relay and it makes that 2 sec sound everytime i put it on pos 2 now. thanks.

 

how much does a main relay cost?

 

Around 40 to 70 bucks depending on where you go, I have a couple sitting here if anyone wants them for really cheap, I'll take 10 dollars for them. IM me if anyone wants one.

I have a 90 teg that is doing the same thing and I just tested the relay and it passed. Except one time, then it made a click sound and it passed. That test is bullshit anyway! Mine starts and stalls right out (did it like five times in a row at the gas station last night) then, it will eventually start. Getting a new one today. Hope this works.

 

sometims it can be something simple like your ground...that was my problem when i had my crx...the person i bought it from didnt do a good job on the ground when he relocated the battery...

Napa sells main relays for about $55 around my area...

 

thats the injector ground. my hatch does that too. unplug the injectors, plug them back in and ur good.

Check out the above site (just the first part, don't try to fix the relay, it won't be worth your time). I had the exact same problems with my car. It would not start when it was hot, play with the key for a little while or let it sit and it would start. Sometimes after a short run (like getting gas) the car won't start after it has been turned off. Started and died on me after a few seconds like, 5 times in a row. Got a new relay today and I haven't had a problem starting the car now.

 

my 90 si does that too. it just sounds like it wants to start, like if it was flooded. i did notice that it does it more when its hot. before it wouldnt start for minutes now is like a whole hour.
