Default Just got back from the track!

Dial ...
R/T ... .552 (getting better)
60' ... 2.416 (*** 60'... if I could get a 2.2 I could probably hit 14.7)
330' ... 6.414 (slow... should be 6.2-6.4)
1/8 ... 9.674 (This is pretty quick... definately in 14.6-14.7 territory)
MPH ... 76.76 (I'm really surprised at this MPH... this is what Raene runs!)
1000 ... 12.477 (good I guess)
1/4 ... 14.868 (oh hell yeah)
MPH ... 94.96 (so close to 95 mph.. slow because I dropped tire pressure)

YES! Finally broke 14's!!!!!

Setup: 88 hatch, B16A/S1 transmission, PW0, homemade CAI, 2.25 inch crush bent exhaust with stock cat and magnaflow muffler, no resonator, stock manifold, gutted interior, Too much gas (in the tank and somewhere else)

First two runs were slow, because the first time I just peeled out the whole way, 2nd, I missed a 2nd gear and still ran a 15.1

Damn dude, I get smoked by my friends 2.5RS (he ran a 16.0 1/4mile) and I have an AEM CAI, DC 4-2-1 header, and Thermal cat back (mandrel bent). ... What's wrong with my car.....

Nice times though

SeaBass I remember you talking about that rs beating you. I think you should do a compression check on your motor because it might just be tired and beat. Still have to remember these engines are almost 15 years old, but we drive them like they are new. By the way how are your driving skills?

drop that 60 foot to 2.2 or 2.1 with a great launch and u will be into mid 14's./ u can have a easy 14.6 car....
i get 2.2's on my SOHC..and still run 15.1.... u can do better...!

Yeah, that's what everyone says. The 14.8 was my third run, and on my 2nd run I had a 2.2 60' and everything was going great until I missed 2nd gear... I'm hoping for 14.6-14.7 next time I go. I think the track elevation is really low.... it's a quick track.

SeaBass - Have you ever timed your engine? Maybe there isn't something right about it.. There is no way you should lose to him. When I got my swap done, for over a year the car was slower than when I had my ZC in and I couldn't understand why.. There was no codes, but the timing was quite a bit out and no one could figure why. New distributer, new ECU, double check wiring, and still nothing. Turned out when my swap was done certain wires at the distributer weren't shielded properly and that was totally ******* my car up and making it slow. I got it fixed and it was much faster.

That, and make sure your cam timing isn't a tooth off.

Stock cat? I had the same problem....years ago when I did my first B16a into my yellow ef. The car ran 16.1....I was like Wtf...then I gutted the car and it ran 14.7...then I made a test pipe and some balder steelies and the car ran consistant 14.5's with the best 14.4.

I plan to go testpipe next... or get a highflow cat. I'm using my stock one too...

That's all good advice, I plan on getting a compression test to see if that's the problem. I'm really hoping I didn't get a lemon...

Stock cat, yes. I'm kinda hesitant to get a high-flow cat because the car is loud enough as is. But I wouldn't be surprised to hear that my stock one is clogged because my old D15 had worn oil rings for the last 2 years before I swapped it out and I burned mucho oil. So it's highly possible, if not probable, that its clogged up.

Can someone confirm with me the difference in sound the high-flow cat makes? Daily driven car (hour commute each way) that is loud enough as is, don't want it to get raspy or much louder

I have a 2 1/4" high-flow cat and it didn't really change the sound at all - so don't worry about it

you all suck! jk Last night I ran 15.8, best run. It was my first time ever racing. my reaction time was like .825 and my 60ft was 2.5! AHH! I cant get any traction (gee I wonder why? can you say trq?! ) and I was running on bald snowtires. It was super hot 105 out, I almost melted a entire bag of ice on my IM after I got there in like 20 min. Anyways I had a good time, I won all 3 runs that I made. I broke out by a 10th of a second on the last. This next week Im gonna try and hit mid 15s. BTW my trap speed was 89mph, is this fast enough for a high 14 sec. run?
hahahha gotta love the open header!!!!

nice times btw!

Seabass - If you were burning oil for 2 years on the same cat, I would be willing to bet that it's clogged. Get a testpipe fabbed up for like 20 bucks and try it.

Blaze - 89mph should be good for low 15's. I was running 15.2-15.3 at 89 mph in my Y8 CRX, so you should be around there. Try some better tires and don't run open headered... I don't think it would help that much, really, unless you have a really bad exhaust.

I have a stock exhaust, so open header is the best way to go right now. What size slicks do ya think that I should run?

22X8X15... start small and work your way up. A typical 22" slick is smaller overall diameter than a standard 185/60R14 tire... that's about 24" diameter... so it effectively gives you better gearing as well as a holeshot.
