I need some guidance guys...
OK I just got back from looking at a milano red 95 GSR. It has 111K miles, the guy is asking 5100 for it. HEre are the problems....
emblem on the front has been partially ripped off/broken (how hard is it to replace?)
panel on the steering wheel has been ripped off because someone tried to steal the car. Can I just get a peice out of the junkyard to replace this?
glove compartment was apparently stolen as well. Can I get one out of the junkyard?
stock spoiler was stolen. How expensive is a used one?
maybe this isn't a problem but it was kind of a red flag to me. When I popped the hood, the underside of the hood was like a bergundy color. Is this because of the heat from the engine? Has anyone else experienced this?
oh ya, and the driver air bag was stolen which doesnt mean anything to me because I was going to get a non airbag wheel ne wayz.
doesn't the 95 GSR come with a stock strut bar? I don't think I saw one. Hmmmm
I figure that the problems that this car has are relatively cheap and can just be fixed with a trip to the junkyard. What would you do?
the positives...
no oil leaks, NICE system, nice blades, nice drop, healthy engine at 111k miles, short ram intake, minimal body damage, clean interior, clutch and gears seem to engage and disengage well

tranny fluid underneath the car, its not engine heat, check for leaks.
the emblems, glove box, steering column cover, etc... can be had at a junkyard for cheap.
the missing airbag in the steering wheel, brings a few ? to mind. how does the car fax look? does there appear to be any body work, done to the car. go around the car and tap each body panel, try to get a similar sounding noise from each panel, thei is not accurate of course, but it can help judge if the panels were replaced.
check the exhaust tip, roll your finger in the inner part of it and see if there is any oil build up, if there is then its burning oil.
how does v-tec sound, does it engage how it should?

i am trying to get someone to run the carfax, but nobody seems interested. Here is the vin JH4DC2382SS002182
the part that bothers me the most is that he has had the ecu reprogramed, and I don't know if I should trust it or not. He as VTEC kicking in a little bit early. What do ya'll think about that?

i dont think that is possible....see when i say that he is asking 5100....that is already after I have talked him down from his original price of 6K.

also...how hard is it going to be to get the computer back to stock? I haven't decided whether that is necessary or not though. How can I tell if the computer he has is the stock computer or if it is some aftermarket thing? The computer has been wired and sits in the passenger floor board.
dude....save yourself the headache!!
sounds like hell....
just be patient, the perfect GS-R will come around... did for me...
and i only had to wait 3 months!!
sorry i dont help much....just my .02...

i dont think u need that car at all you apparently dont know enough about one to own one any interior peice can be found for under 25-30 dollars if you haggle with a junkyard second a gsr doesnt come stock with a strutbar only a type r does and the computer on the floor only means that you need to pull back the carpet and bolt it back down as far a vtec coming in early as long as its not before 4500 it is ok for the motor do your research and learn about the car before you buy one dont try to be like everyone else and get one until you know what you are doing
well I just missed the deal of my lifetime...and so then I moved onto the next best deal which was this one with the stolen peices. Can someone answer this question....does hondata replace the stock ecu?
Physically, no. It still interfaces with the original ECU box, but control over engine management functions are relegated to the Hondata box.
ok but the kid has changed the vtec engagement point. I know that hondata cannot correct this back to stock. What does the stock computer look like?
