Default Why do Integra sunroofs not open all the way or is mine just broke?

We decide to take the car out as its a beautiful nite out and decide to open the sunroof for the first time. It goes halfway, maybe 60-70% and then I hear some little clicking and it stops. I searched the archives and found some accord owners saying they had the same type. Checked owners manual and no info there as well.

Is this normal for Integra's? the little headliner insert thingy goes all the way back but not the sunroof, seems like there is atlest 4 to 5 inches left.

Its hard for me to believe the sunroof motor is going out, this thing is a 2000 4dr GSR that had been babied. I went on a 10 hr drive one way to buy it. It even has the factory wind deflector which is about to come off real soon and be up for sale
Plus, I have the extended full warranty for 7 year /100,00 miles, so I am not worried, but a little upset if it is actually busted.

Please advise....

Thanks!

PS - I apologize for some of the stupid questions I am askin. All part of my learning curve with this car.

they go back close to all the way, but not completely open.

probably about an inch or so left from being open all the way.

they stop right before they hit the sliding inner piece (if that makes any sense).

Oh no, mine stops like half way or just after...the slider piece is behind all the way and there is a good 4 to 5 inches between the slider and the glass...

Can somoene post a pic from inside when fully open and the slider pushed all the way back....I think the motor is gone bad or something then from what I have read above.

i thought the same when i first saw an integra. after seeing a few, i learned it was typical. Some people who dont use the their sunroofs immediately go out and buy a wind visor. after installnig they realize that with the sunroof's limited openning and the wind visor, you end up with less then a 3 inch openning. hee hee

That's how they all are. If it went back any further, if you open the hatch with the sunroof open, they would hit each other.

on both my integras i had that problem. Alot of dirt and gunk will be in the tracks where it slides, clean it off and put some grease on and keep opening and shutting it until it goes back smooth.

Word... use white lithium grease, but not the spray stuff because it doesn't last very long...

Yeah, that's how 4dr's are. My girl's 4dr goes back like the one in the first pic. But my 2dr goes back about 3 inches more.

Thanks everyone!

My buddy has a 96 2 door and his goes back all the way like the second pics.

Do y'all think it may have something to do with the year the acura was made? Mine is a 2000 4 door GSR...

Acura slipped on this one. I would think the 4 door should open all the way back since there is no hatch that it may hit.....

Maybe, it can be adjusted somehow...I wonder if the motor for a 2 door and 4 door is different, slap in the 2 door version maybe...I'll call the dealer and see if part no's are different.
