I think I've decided to sell the beloved Civic after 10+ years...
... I'm going to be arguing the move to a base MINI with the wife after this weekend. Then again, I could still be in STX if she really shoots the idea down.
I think STX would work, but I am at a point where I just want to show up, drive fast and go home... No more playing with spring rates or trying to find some advantage in shock settings. Besides, in preparing it for FSP, I made the car almost unbearable on the road for this area (central NJ). It's fast, but not fast enough (props to Kugler!). It's there, but not there to the point that I have 2 sets of Hoosiers in the garage at all times and a pickup and trailer for it in the driveway.
So either finish it for FSP or do a SM project are the only choices I have and I don't want to do either.
Yes, it's not much different in HS in some areas, but at the same time, it is VERY different. Modern cars with OBDII are less receptive to the common bolt ons, just read GRM's articles on the MINI for proof... $700 for an exhaust that gives 4hp?!?
The thing is quick and fun right out of the box, add tires and Konis at some point and you're done! I can't pass that up.
For those of you that know me and the Civic know it is very clean, well sorted, maintained, and balanced. Please see to it that it goes to a good home if it does go up for sale in the next week or three.
Oh, I'd probably be selling a 99 Accord LX as well at the same time.

I agree.
And here's one vote to do it.

chit you dont even need Konis - just order the factory sport package.
Oh and the mini is optioned for 12 different spring rates depending on what options the car had (heavier car = heavier springs). So order a stripper and see what hte dealer can do for you as far as ordering.

Holy Jesus! If you had any inkling of buying the car I'd have to call you Dirk Diggler. You're a ******* animal.
Have fun and drive it fast. Let Tom, Don, Perry, and Rob try it if they want.

good luck with your new purchase... they look fun as hell. just make it manly looking like scc's project car.

ALL BETS ARE OFF!!! It turns out STX is a great place for the car so far. Although I was in Ohio this weekend, my good friend Jeff Yatsko (jasyatz) drove the car to 9th overall in PAX (would have been 5th if the 2003 index was used!) Saturday and 1st in the class. He had nothing but good things to say. Given my poor performance in DC due to my illness I thought the car was done before even trying STX. Now we go faster.
