Default So you want a JimFab bar, eh?

I know that a lot of you were wanting the JimFab traction bars, and there are even more of you who do not venture into the Best Buys forum, but just as a 'public service announcement', i wanted to let all of you know that RPI Racing is doing a group buy on the bars right now for $280 shipped for the 88-91 CRX/Civics...

Link to GB - https://honda-tech.com/zerothre...08232

We've already had many many members who have received their bars, and many more who are placing their orders... this GB is over at the end of July, so now is the time to pick up these bars for your car

/end public service announcment

Cool If you need more info, or want to purchase the bars, either call us toll-free at 877.774.0004, or email Jason@RPIracing.com about the bars.

Thanks Composimo

I bought mine through this GB (great customer service btw) and will be installing it tomorrow morning. Hoping to increase some space for my turbo dp and also minimize wheelhop!

So you guys, how do these bars perform on the 88-91 crx or civic? as far as 60 foot time, stiffing the suspension, or eliminating wheel hop? Let me know ya'll. I'm thinking about buying some.

They perform VERY well, as i'm sure anyone who has a set on their car will attest to. They stiffen up the front trmendously, and virtually eliminate, and make the car more stable on the launch, which in turn also helps your '60 times. If you have any qustions, please let us know, or post up on the GB post

Can some please clear somthing up for me.

<U>on the site it clearly states that they do not reccomend this product for street use</U> can you please help me understand why that is or if there are any issuse that we should be aware of such as (ex) being TOO stiff for daily driven applications ect?

I'm interested in this but I need to find out if it's the right product for my needs.

That is mainly a disclaimer thing... there are a LOT of people that drive with these bars on their street cars with absolutely no problems at all. I'm sure that 99-100% of the people taking part in this buy are putting these bars on their street cars.

Let me tell you guys, this is a deal. While I may not have any numbers to back up my claim, this piece is beautiful. It fits wonderfully. I thought I got a deal on it by buying it at 350, I could have and should have waited to get it. If you guys ever plan on getting one of these bars, this is the one. So nice and an awesome price. Just had to post for those that get to save 70 bucks on this.

quoted from another memeber:
"i have asked jim about the street application for my rex, and his responce was that the bar is good to go for the street, just need to pay attention to the heim joints and replace them when the develop a play. he is working on a caster adjustable one as well. i reccomend his stuff completely."

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by FFgeoff &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">my take on the jimfabs, bad stuff listed first. The good FAR outweighs the bad, and dont get me started on the bad things for the other bars, i could go on for a long time.

BAD

1) the crossmember goes back awfully far. This seems pretty unnecessary, but on the flip side it means less moving mass and shorter radius arms. The bad part is that it could potentially be in the way of a dump tube, downpipe or IC piping

2) I wish jim had an option for an upgraded heim joint. While jimfab uses the same run of the mill heim as z10 (to save costs obviously, although z10 makes you pay for them, jim keeps the price right) these heims are poor quality, and will rattle around, making a lot of noise.

GOOD

1) The design is friggin awesome. No other traction bar that i have seen has geometry that is this close to being spot on. Jim understands suspension geometry and this design reflects that.

2) it includes a nice CNC machined billet aluminum mount. This gives the radius arm a strong, appropriately placed mount, which will not tear the bushings to hell everytime you stomp on the gas. This billet mount alone is worth 50$. And there are 2.

3) The powdercoat is a high quality and gorgeous coat

4) The price is super affordable.

The reason so many companies have gotten away in the past with the facade/illusion that their bars work well is simply becuase the binding of the suspension actually *increases* spring rate thru the bending of the car. The front end and frame rails are getting bent back and forth from the radius arms that use improper geometry. High spring rates, low wheel travel and combine that with poeple who do not understand suspension geometry doing design work can cause probs.

Ive got jimfab bars on my car and i could make anything i wanted to at my fabshop.</TD></TR></TABLE>

i really want to know what kinda noise the suspension makes.

The joint rattle can get a bit annoying (i haven't heard it from the JimFab bars specifically, but i've heard it in some other race cars in the past), but its not too bad. If you decide that you'd rather do upgraded joints, i should be able to supply some really really high-quality joints at a bit of an added cost... they'd be direct replacements for the JimFab joints. I'll do whatever i can to make you (and anyone else) happy on this deal by creating an 'upgrade' package with the joints.

I'll look into it for you though, and get back to you tomorrow
