Default Advancing Timing...?

I heard that putting in higher octane gas and advancing the timing would result in slightly better milage and hp output, is that right? If so how do I advance the timing and how do I tell if the amount of adjustment is correct?

u can turn distributor just a lil towards the engine. but i dont htink it will do much cuz ur ecu will hold it back. if u hada a carbutator, it would work

I know that on my old f22 obd2 their was one of the three bolt holes that would not allow for adjustment some people I know just didn't put it back in but that just doesn't seam right.

I've heard that on obd2 ecu's the iginition timing is changed by changing the valve timing with an adjustable cam gear.

OBD2 accords cannot be retarded or advance via the distributor because the ecu retards the timing at WOT by itself.

Im actually trying to do this now, I have OBDII, i heard you can jump a little harness under the dash, its a blue clip with two wires going into it. I heard this keeps the computer from reseting itself. The only question I have is how do I turn my dist. there are no adjusting slides or anything, its just direct bolt, i mean there is a little slide, but its only like a quarter of an inch long, is that enough to advance the timing?? . Im lookin for help, if anyone can help me out.

to adjust the distributer you have to loosen all three bolts and then take the one bolt out that is closest to you when facing the engine. If done correctly you should have the top bolt still in and the bottom bolt still in and they should be loose. That little blue clip that you are talking about that is found under your passenger side dash with only two wires going to it is how you can extract the troubleshooting codes used only for the OBD II system. THis will not keep the ecu from resetting itself. It will flash the check engine light giving you the codes that your ecu sensed. Further more adjusting the distributor will only change your ignition timing slightly but because of the obdII system it will automatically set it up as close as possible to the factory settings that the ecu was programmed to do. So in a sense you will not be able to advance nor retard the timing a whole lot.
