accord shocks dont work !!!!
Im so pissed right now i just got in my 89 accord front bilsteins for my rex and they are not gonnna work because the forks are to small and the bottom of the shock is to large...the only way it looks like this is gonna work is to have the inside of the fork shaved and the outside bottom part of the shock shaved as well...anybody have any ideas?
from now on here is a tip that you should always follow....check part numbers.
I used to call kragen up and asked, but i found out tha carparts.com has part numbers on their site. So just register and you can cross reference parts, so the next time you'll know they fit.

Take a deep breath and relax.
I'm sure all you have to do is get a fork from another Honda that fit's the shock, and you're set. I once installed 99 Civic Tokico shocks on my CRX. All I needed was the 92-95 civic forks for the shocks to fit. I'm sure this case is the same.

allright so should I get the accord forks or the 92-95 civic forks? I got the sport bilsteins; why did no one mention that i needed new forks in any of the posts about accord shocks? i dont understand why the most important **** gets left out.

I don't know why yours didn't work. I put my 88-91 forks back on when I put the accord ones in. I had 92-95 forks for the GSR struts I was using. Mine fit fine, I also used Monroe Sensatracs. Did you try using silicone spray to help ease the fork on? I would try to get both forks(civic/accord) if you can and try each.

Before you go nuts and begin running in circles take the fork off the car(slide it over the axle and out) and flip the strut assembly upside down......now find the little slit and where on the strut it has the little tag that fits into the slit. Now get a hammer and pound it on so it fits. I had to do it today and it worked fine once it was in there.

What year is your crx btw?

What's the point of getting the shorter Accord shock if you use the taller 92-95 Civic forks? In the end you will be back to the same height as you would have if you just bought the shock that was actually made for the car.
I know that the original poster did not know this, but obviously others did and they should have known better.

I had to pry mine apart a bit, Well actually I just stuck a screw driver in the slot and put it on the shock, then pulled the screw driver out and it clamped on perfectly. This swap has worked for quite a few people, so just sit back and keep trying, you'll get it right soon.

allright we'll this sucks really bad ive been riding on blown shocks for a year now up front and its been bouncy as hell; heres what I figured out about the shocks
9/89 - 93 Accord Sport B36-1721(L)
B36-1722 (R) $97.30 B46-1723 $83.30
86 - 8/89 Accord HD B36-1135(L)
B36-1136(R) $97.30 B36-1089 $97.30
you see theres a 8/89 shock which is the heavy duty that everyone else got and me being a dumbass got the 9/89 sport shock which i thought would be better for lowering than the factory replacement. I dont want a taller civic fork that will make it ride higher but does anyone know the specs on the accord fork? I have pryed my fork open like a quarter of an inch and the shock still wont go in and even if it did the bolt holding in the top part of the fork/shock wouldnt fit either. I think im gonna get a dremel and dremel the big *** part around the shock on the outside and then dremel the inside of the fork some and see if that works at all. But first I wanna know what the accord forks are like......

'9/89 - 93 Accord Struts' refer to 90-93 Accord struts. Your struts are for the next generation of Accords. The shorter ones that fit EFs, are the 86-89 ones. A Accord made in 9/89 (or late 1989) is basically a 1990 model released a bit early, as do most cars. Take them back and get the right ones. Or try 90-93 Accord forks, and hope they aren't longer than EF forks (else, there wouldn't be a point to using Accord ones). Or maybe you could try EG/DC/EK forks. Those are larger in diameter without being longer. So are your 90-93 Accord struts shorter then EF ones???? It would be nice to use a shorter strut with a wider valve.

I thought the HDs where the better ones. HDs aren't the factory replacement ones. It's the more race, longer life, mo better one.
