Default Dohc ZC swap, but no power

ok just got finish with the swap into a 90 dx. but the cars feels the same. i'm thinking the timing is off, or low compression, but is there any other problems that i'm not thinking of. thanks.

Timing can certainly make it run like ***. Belt timing and distributor timing.

What trans did you use?

Shoot for an Si to ZC with Si final drive. ZC trans will kill the acceleration as will most of the lower model transmissions.

Did you do anything with the timing belt? People tend to screw those up pretty frequently. It will seem like it runs fine but it will be dead on power either at the bottom or top of the powerband obviously depending on where it is off.

If the ZC has the lowest gearing why would it kill acceleration?

Final drive sort of sucks. I shouldn't have said kill it, but compared to an Si, it's slower (at least from all of my experiences). The gears are closer and lower, but the final drive just ruins it IMO. That's why the ZC with Si final drive is a good mix The ZC gear set is pretty nice.

The stock ZC tranny final drive sucks. It rev's rather hi IMO. I personally don't like it but I would like to hybridize my tranny with an Si. Do all the gears right.

Did you ever check the cam timing? I'm betting that is your problem. Ignition timing isn't going to make a ZC slower or as slow as a DX.
