Is JB weld a safe alternative to regular weld?? Com'on how many have used it? :)

Is JB weld a safe alternative to regular weld?? Com'on how many have used it? :)
I was thinking about using JB weld for the end tanks on my IC.
Will this work? I will only be boosting 8psi at the max.
Who has used it here??? Any problems?
Also, how bout for the BOV as well? Will it work?

I would suggest welding it. It will hold way more than jb weld can. Plus it will look better than having gunk showing.

Welding is always better
Do you have a cetaline(sp?) torch? (High heat)
Use coat hanger wire (steel) or go buy aluminum wire. Heat the FMIC where you want to lay the wire and then aly into it with the torch, holds great, looks great.
But check to see if your FMIC is steel or aluminum, most likely aluminum. But im no expert on that.

i have a starion intercooler and i made custom end tanks. am useing metal bond
to hold the end tanks to the intercooler core. thus far i have no problems.....my car has been running boost for almost 2 years.

I used jb weld to add two vacuum/boost ports to my charge pipe. I use one for my btm and the other for my wg. They hold up just fine for me..

jb weld sucks but you can goto a marine shop they have some stuff 10 times stronger and more heat resitant i for get what its calle dbut all marine shops carry it its to fix anything aluminum.but works just like jb weld

it's oxy-acetyline.
don't ever use coat-hanger wire for welding. it WILL crack. JB weld should hold i guess. i've never used it on aluminum so i wouldn't know.

i think what your talking about is the PC products they make jb weld look like play dough. What your looking for is called pc metal it will do the job for you it can be found at a local home depot or hardware store.

JB weld tensile strength (from JB weld website): 3960 lbs/psi.. assuming you have a good adhesion surface.
Steel weld tensile strength: 90,000 lbs/psi.. and welds actually form metallic bonds with the surface.
So judging from this a steel weld is 22x stronger than steel.
Is it worth it to weld? YES, boost leaks suck and they will end your turbo in a heartbeat.

heres my story.
I have a JB welded
a Greddy type S bov to a ford probe plastic bov pipe.
two oil pans one alumium and a steel one. And i might do another jb weld job on another one.
the only problem I've had was with the BOV I broke it off once but I was pulling really hard on it like an *** trying to move somthing.
