Hey guys. I've only had my 99teg for 6months and the check engine light just came on. The car is stock for now since I have no cash, driving conditions are normal except for some hard accelerating here and there... Any ideas before I call the shop? Thanks for your help.

 

Just means you need scheduled maintenance, you can turn off the light with a botton under the dash near your right knee if your driving. YOu can feal it with your finger, just push and hold.

 

You are thinking about the "maintinence required" indicator. Just checked it out. The check engine light has no button to turn it off. Any other ideas guys?

 

go to your passenger side.. look undere the dash area.. where the ECU is at.. you have to remove the cover.. you will see a green plastic thing with a plug going in it.. remove the plug.. get a piece of metal to stick it in and loop it on the otherside of the wire.. hold it there.. now look at the flashing check engine .. quick pulse are 1.. long pulse is 10

 

Thanks for the info on a remedy to fix it, but any ideas as to what could be causing the light to come on? Any frequent problems with the teg check engine light? Anyone have an idea as to what could be causing the light to come on?

 

read what remeo said...when you do that it will explain what is causing your CEL to go off.
