Default Drag strip a good place to test intake gains? AEM CAI > Comptech Ice Box

Just picked up a used Comptech Ice Box and drop in filter to replace the AEM CAI. Would making a few runs at the strip with each set up be any kind of guage as to which one produces more hp gains? Or should I just make the change and keep whichever one FEELS better? Thanks....

I doubt it. There are too many variables.

If you want the midrange spike and the top end gain go for the AEM CAI. It does have horrible throttle response though.

Keep the Icebox if you want throttle response and smoother power.

How do you like the Icebox over the AEM? I made the same change about 2 weeks ago and I am very pleased.

Sure it can. You will have faster times (Plus trap speed will be higher) with the intake that produces more power in the high RPMs. IMO will be the AEM.

i guess try to compare average trap speed on the runs with similar 60ft times.

Bingo, too many variables.... but I would bet the Ice Box makes more power, though you won't feel it.
