Default Skunk2 Stage 2 or JUN Type 3

I couldn't find the debate I've heard about so I figure I'll just ask the question...simple....cost not the biggest issue, but it's there as far as results vs. cost.

Motor: JDM B18C-R w/ tranny

Current Mods:

Comptech CAB
DC 4-1 2.5 JDM Header
Custom 2.5 all the way back w/ high flow cat

Dynoed high 180s at neetronics w/ 4-2-1 header and 2.25 exhaust a few months ago.

And those answers are based on what? Because JUN is a Japanese tuner company? The Skunk2 stage 2's have been proven time and time again to produce as much, sometimes even more hp than the JUN's. Both brands have had their share of breakage stories, and the Skunk2's are certainly priced lower. Search around a little, it's been covered many, many times.

Do you have proof that they don't? Probably not. Check out Import Builders, doa search on HT, then talk smack. Skunk 2's are almost the same profile as the JUN cams. But they're not magical JDM parts

My answer is based on my own personal experience. Jackass. I have a full JUN valvetrain and it is the best mod I have done to any of my cars in 6 years of tuning. I highly recommend the JUN type3 setup.

Jackass? Great comeback . So did you put the Skunk2 stage 2's in your car before, or after you dyno'd the Jun III's?

The Jun 3s always make a few more HP than the Skunk 2 stage 2s. The Skunk 2 stage 3s are a different story

Guess it's just a matter of deciding if that extra 1 or 2 ponies is worth the price difference. Seems like I haven't heard that much about Skunk stage 3's, do those mimic another cam?

Seems people are just jumping on the JUN bandwagon. depends on your tuner, other mods you have, and where you want the most power

JUN3s will probably make more top end HP, but someone that likes more midrange power might want to go with the Skunkers.

PS you didnt search hard enough

i'm sure JUN has better customer service. i believe it was canuk-mx6(sp) who had his JUN's break and JUN replaced it and more.

i've been running JUN 3's for roughly 8k miles now and NO problems at all with them

I have yet to tune the cams but I hit 202 on JUN3s with them set at 0,0 with a stock exhaust.

why are there so many mixed stories about the juns? everyone that i have spoken with in person with actual racing or real world experience with the juns has told me to stay away at all costs b/c they break, they have seen them break time and time again and they are not good.

but then there are so many peopel on h-t that love them and say they have had no problems... ?

To all the JUn III owners....I had them, but its a real pain to swap out the Titanium retainers at almost 15,000 miles. Inspect your retainers cause I toasted one motor because of premature retainer wear. Do a search and youll see that JUN valvesprings are actually **** for the JUN III cam profile. They start binding before 8000 rpms and thats with the JUN recommended stock install height.

Lots of people running Jun 3's with no problems, and there is no question that the Jun 3's make real good power, so it is no wonder that there are many Jun fans on H-T. But there have been numerous instances of them breaking; Tbone broke a set this morning. Every time I see someone post "I have been running the Jun 3's for xxx miles with no problems" , I hope that they did not jinx themselves.
