Default hybrid cooling question

ok ive had the h22 in my 5th gen for a year and a half now .....my question is my temp gauge has never moved.......
is there any diff between the lude rad and the accord rad...it gets dam hot under there ...but i havent done a thermstat yet ....

would the spoon thermo switch and thermostt be enough to bring down the temp or should i just get and aftermarket rad

the accord radiators are fine as long as they flow like they were meant to........it's not like swapping from a 1.6 to a 2.2 in a civic....the accord has an engine that is just as big, and the cooling systems are sufficient to say the least....now that said, it wouldn't hurt to have it run cooler, except that maybe your heater won't be as hot...but you can also add some water wetter to it too.....

anything you listed would help the cooling system

do your thermostat first and flush the radiator, see how that works first

Dude, are you sure about what you are saying?
First he needs to check with some real gauge that his engine is working hotter than what it should be, in case he is he should try to lower temps with what he said, but if he isn't maybe just wraping his header may help reduce underhood temps.
The engine needs the temp to operate, the coolder it is, the more the bores wear out, so be carefull when you say what you just say cuz maybe a nOOb might think that cooler engine means more power and do all what he can to reduce his temps and end up with an engine that is slowly eating itself up.

Sorry for the rant, not trying to insult or anything

the water wetter idea is actually good, off course if that things really does what the manufacturer says

water wetter does work. i dont speak on first hand expierence but a friend with b16 1st gen swap had his temp needle drop about 1/8th after using it.

It's kinda weird that you meantion that, cuz i know is true in some cars more than others, for example, my dads galant (4G63 non turbo high comp.) the underhood temps are soo high that the hoses (mostly coolant) often get hard and break from the temps.
So my advice is, get gauge and wrap your header/manifold on it and see the temps, let us know how it was.

All though not necessary, I would recommend a bottle of water wetter at every coolant change. The data does seem to indicate lower coolant temps with it, and it most likely isn't going to hurt cooling performance. $12 every year or two...

I'd like to clarify for newbies that this would reduce under-hood temps but probably doesn't do much for coolant temp.

True, but he stated that the temp gauge has never moved, but the underhood temps are hot as hell

i think he knows. He also learned that he should get a gauge to really verify that the engine is running hotter (which i doubt).

Now, what he states (that the underhood temps are hotter) i've seen it and it hapends a lot to older cars, i don't know why, but is true, maybe because the heat deflectors get old or i don't know why.
What do you guys know about this?
