Seems way pricey, seeing how JDM_DOHC_SiR can get you the syncro kit and bearing kit for $400. But, whatever floats your boat I guess.

hahaha......if u guys didnt know you can get these synchros stateside.... you just gotta compare which is which... i know at least 2 or 3 d series synchros are the same as cable b series......and im sure the rest will be the same as USDM cable trannys....
Hmmm, Most people don't wanna bother with trial and error syncros...that MIGHT work.
OEM Kits from Japan, **** ain't cheap.

Are any of these kits compatible with the JDM YS1 tranny? Mine isn't grinding, but just like all B-series cable trannies, they eventually will. And I love my YS1, I'd love to have the extra parts laying around for when the time comes.

you can use the 92-93 usdm integra gsr synchro kit for the jdm ys1's. same sh*t.

I wonder if this rebuild kit will remedy my problem
my tranny came with my swap from osucka jdm motors
The tranny is very stiff, grinds 2nd sometimes, grinds 3rd all the time, grinds 5th all the time and reverse doesn't work
will this kit fix the problem? or will it be better just to buy a new tranny?

Really? Can someone else who had actually done this confirm this?? That is great news if it is!!!

not sure how much truth there is behind this using gsr synchros but if it was true then everyone would be rebuilding them with those already and there would be absolutely no need to offer something like this.
take your chances and spend money on that and maybe it will work out, or be certain and get the parts that match up perfect and do it right the first time. the decision is yours

and yes the components are compatible with ys1 trannys.
as said in above post, this will make your tranny like new again so obviously it will cure all your grinding problems etc.

Sorry leo, flat out wrong. Unless you are getting another kit for the YS1's. I know this first hand, had them both disassembled side y side.

This is true, but only for the YS1's, it does not cover the S1/J1/Y1's. Also the diff out of SirII's is applicable for the YS1 because it uses the same width case as the hydro tranny (Different bearings though), as well as the larger main and output shafts, which is the reason for the difference, it has to use larger gears/synchros to fit the larger shaft making all the parts unswappable with the older trannies.

there was actually someone on this board.....who offered to rebuild trannys for people........and VERIFIED that USDM parts are available and work for JDM trannys
OK, this has really got to stop....you can not just throw any usdm combo at a jdm tranny....
on this board and "verified" by at least three people was that a usdm ls 90-91 synchro and gear set would work on a jdm s1 tranny...we tried that and it ABSOLUTLELY WILL NOT WORK
this is not to say other combos might not, but i got pissed after wasting my money based on "expert" advice
btw, i bought a pristine usdm ys1 tranny from a gsr for 500 so dont think i would pay 5o more for a rebuild kit....

i tried this sh*t myself on my old JDM S1 cable trans. someone told me that the 90-91 LS synchro set would work so i tried it and it did NOT.
RE: synchro kits
that's great if you can get the synchro sets, but what happens when half the people on this board crack their trannies open to find out that their synchro rings AND their gears or synchro hubs/sliders are worn. the cause for grinds could be a bent shifter fork as well. and what about bearings? this shouldn't be referred to as a REBUILD KIT without bearings.
what too many people don't realize is that synchro kits ARE NOT guaranteed fixes. they think they will just order a synchro kit and it will solve all of their tranny problems. SOME will be this lucky, some won't.
you actually have to open the trans up and inspect things to figure out what the cause of your particular tranny problem could be...

This is the first time I've seen anyone say that the USDM sycnhros WILL work in a JDM tranny.... I'm 99.9 percent sure they WON'T, and every thread I've read over the years agrees with me.
ive actually cracked open a JDM tranny and compared SOME of the synchros to D Series L3 tranny synchros.....so I KNOW THEY ARE THE SAME....i cant remember which gear synchros matched up but they were the EXACT same thing....
While i would love to prove it to you by going down to the honda dealer and comparing JDM synchros to new D series or other series synchros...i dont have a Spare JDM tranny laying around to expirement with anymore......
