Default New here at HT

Hello all, just wanted to pop in and say howdy.

I saw the link to this site from RPIracing.com and thought I'd come check it out.

I'm currently working on a rust free 89 CRX Si. I've dubbed her to be "Sinful" and a money sucker. lol. It's pretty well stock for now with only a few "ghetto" mods. When I bought it, the previous owner had cut the stock springs, so the camber is trashed and the ride sucks. It needs a driver's side fender, a hood, and some paint and then I'll dive into the suspension.

Of course the d16a6 will be pulled eventually, but right now it's running strong and I can't justify discarding a strong running motor. Hopefully I can boost it for a little extra HP till it dies, and then it's b16 time!

Anyhow, so that's my project in a nutshell.

Now back to reading some more of the forums.

why b16? IMO it sucks, I'm sure I'll get **** for this from the b16 people but a ZC crx can take a b16 crx w/ out a doubt, I've seen it plenty of times and in my 88 Si w/ D16 I kept up to less then a car length on a b16 CRX, for the same money you could do so many better things, put that money into building your D16 for a turbo and hitting it w/ more boost and you'll blow the doors off any B16, or get an LS, and go LS vtec or LS turbo

Exactly which B16? Definitely worth getting a B16 IF it's a B16B!!!!

OK then Note the blatant eye-rolling... *sigh* Check my sig and show me a single ZC CRX that can run those times with intake/exhaust on hard street tires, daily driven, without complete gutting.

Welcome to the site sinful I agree though, a B16 will leave you wanting more torque

I was planning on the JDM B16A1 from the SiR with Y1 LSD and a Zdyne ECU.

I want a reliable swap and from the sounds of it, hmotorsonline get a lot of good motors with low mileage and sells them at a fair price. So I figure a motor with 30-40K on it compared to my 274K d16a6 would be a huge improvement.

I realize the b16 doesn't have godly torque, but I'm not planning to race it or anything, just a toy to tinker with for my own personal amusement. So I am assuming it will be enough for my taste for a summer car.

Well, FWIW, the B16 doesn't do all that hot for daily, summer driving. It's really only fast when it's above 5k rpm, and how often do you spend that much time in that range on the street? You might want to look into a torquier engine, like a B20 swap. Just a thought

looks nice, I had a black crx ('90).
I loved the color but rotted to hell.

Did you paint the silver one, or is that a different car with the same wheels?

good luck with your project.

B16's are nice but i think you'd be happier with even an LS engine. just my $.02

BTW, where's Warren, Pa?

The Silver one was an 88 DX. I bought it for 500$ in the shape of the first pic, and did some body work then had it repainted Blade Silver and put the rims and stuff on it. The second pic of it is how it looked before i got rid of it. It had started to rot out from the underside, so it had to go.

It took me just over 2 years to find 'Sinful'. 1989 Si with NO RUST anywhere on it. The paint was a bit tore up from the clear coat peeling off of the original paint. On my way home the day I bought it, I had a 1500 mile round trip, I slid on the snow and did a bit of damage to the front driver's side. I now have to get a front bumper support, driver's side fender, and a hood before I actually begin the project.

The interior is MINT, including OEM floor mats and seats with NO rips or wear marks. The previous owner has cut the stock springs and replaced the OEM steering wheel with the Grant POS that's in it. The ride quality sucks right now and will be one of the first things I fix.

Warren PA is about 2.5-3 hours north of you in Pittsburg. If you look on a map it's where Rt6 and Rt62 cross. In fact I have a friend that's moving down that way to go to CCBC this August. We go to Pittsburg every now and then to visit his GF that lives just off of I-79 at the Zeilianopel(sp?) exit.

yo, I need a passenger side fender. Wanna trade my trashed one for your good one???? That way, I'll have an awesome body, and your's will have a nice red passenger side crunch to match your driver side! BTW, it comes with a euro side signal!!!! Jk man. Have fun with your CRX. Those rims rock, looking to get some just like them.

How about you buy some lame *** z3's and give me your good driver's side. 8-) (just playin)

Thanks for the posative comments. I am gonna sell the Konig Tuners and get a set of Rota C8's or Slipstreams, I'm not sure which yet. I just gotta get a reasonable price out of my Tuners first.

I been out of work for almost 6 monthes now, so my projects have been on hold.

I have a few things to sell eventually, but I'm hoping some work comes up soon so I don't have to sell my spare CRX parts. ~~shrug~~ I dunno.

(by the way, the 5 posts/ 24hrs for a trial member SUXs)
