Default Tranny overfill?

I have a JDM B16 with an S1 transmission. Tonight I thought I'd check to see if the tranny was topped up with MTF, so I pulled the fill plug (the 17mm one) and it peed out a lot of fluid. I guess it was somehow overfull. The car was fairly warm, so did the oil expand a bit? Is it ok to drive? I took it out and shifted 1-2-3 at like 7000+ rpm and I didn't feel any grinds, but normal shifting is sometimes a bit notchy... is this normal? I know nothing about transmissions, guys. Is everything ok?

a lot of times trannies get over filled. This is because usually onle one side is lifted on the car when fluid is added. there is nothing wrong with it being overfilled. Why did you think that your fluid was low?

The proper way to fill it is to raise the passenger side higher up so you can sneak an extra half quart in there. Losing a little like you did is no biggie, but you might as well change the fluid anyways for good measure. BTW use none other than Honda MTL.

Yeah, I'm using MTF, and I did fill it on level ground when I got my swap done. But if it's sitting on level ground and fluid is coming out of the top fill hole, it hould be fine right? or shoudl I overfill it a bit?

its fine now that u let it out Oil doesn't expand. Overflowing is bad, it'll start to leak from various places and get on your clutch wearing it prematurely.

Yes, oil expands, but I'm not sure if MTF does. Well, the car wasn't boiling hot, it had just sat for an hour and a half or so. I'll check the level tomorrow morning, just to be sure.

also if u jack up the front the fill hole is lower than the rest of the tranny givng u less fluid, the proper way to do this is to fill when the car is level, use a small funnel, a couple of feet of 1/2 hose and a barbed elbow (plastic so i doenst scratch the car ) lossen the bolt with the car in air, then lower it and remove the plug, go its a tight fit but ive done it, fill it up go slow so it doenst back up and spill when u remove the funnel, and fill, this has worked the best for me accurate
