get any model after 94 (since thats the first year of production and those cars are prone to have more problems than later years) and you shouldnt have any major problems if the car you buy has fairly low mileage. Common problems (if you have any at all) include door lock actuators going out, slow windows, bad cv joints, and blown shocks (if you drop it). Those are the most common problems i've encountered while on this forum. All in all the 5th gen accords are a good choice and it's a very refined car with very little problems. There's been a couple recalls so check those out and replace your parts as neccessary to avoid any costly repairs in the future.

Since you own a Honda already, you probably know this, but watch out for rust in the rear quarter panels, behind the wheel well and under the bumper.

I know, it's a given, but it's always good to check

problems i encountered with mine (96 lx)..

leaking oil seals in the spark plug chamber, door light lenses coming off, inner fender well lining ripping out at high speeds, door lock actuator buzzing when locking, bad switches for power windows on drivers side door, bad front motor mount, and the f22b2 has little potential unless you put great amounts of $$$$ into it (heheh)

fluxion,

Why are you giving him advice for buying an American car? reliabiliy for the Honda Accord in 1994 is actually better than for the previous generation according to Consumer reports and Carpoint...... any accord 1994 or newer will be excellent in terms of power train reliability and the distributor is no longer an issue....also the 4th gen cars seem to have troubles with their main relay....

i think you misunderstood, i said buy any accord AFTER 94 (95-97). not sure where all the 4th gen talk came into play.

I would go 94-95 ex cause it is obd 1... definately a 5 speed but I am biased.

I would go coupe f22b1 if you can get one... have fun finding it in leather but the sunroof is a must.

which years have the different taillights? i've seen some accords with seperated tail lights and some with 1 piece taillights.

try to get the 94-95 EX 5-spd, they're one of the quickest 4 cylinder accords out there. plus the 94-95 EX comes with those beautiful 7-spoke alloy wheels, sunroof, power everything, better suspension, doubletip muffler, etc...

btw im talking about keeping it stock. if you want to do an engine swap, you're better off with the LX/DX since they're lighter.

I have a black 95 EX Sedan 5 spd. and I love it.

I beleive you can check the VIN with the dealer and see what recalls have been done to the car.
