Default Power windows kit

I found this on CRXSI.com
http://www.crxsi.com/resources/spal/

So I did a search and found a few places that carried some other kits that were alittle pricier, maybe by $100. So I started thinking about the quality of the SPAL kit compared to kits that are little more expensive.
Anyone have a kit on and what brand?

Anyone had any problems with their kits?

If I am going to pay more I might as well pick up a JDM kit from Ebay, right?

Any comments are appreciated

Thanks

I have had the spal kit a little over a year and havent had any problems. Also never died on me during the winter season when it rains like a ****..

The kit also comes with plastic plugs to cover the holes where the handle would be. Also if your kit does brake down and you dont have time to fix it right then it comes with a handle that you can mate with the hole behind the plastic plug to roll the windows up/down.

Here are some pics..

Drivers side

Passanger side.

On the first pic you can see the plastic plug that covers the hole for the handle.

I have a JDM kit on my crx and I love it, I have had it on for about 1.5 years so far and no problems with it. Install was kind of a hassle because I had to cut some of my door panel to have the panel fit right.

DJ0820 and I put in the ghetto window kit. We used 4D motors and put the CRX tracks on them. They bolt right in. For wiring we just hooked up some switches from the junkyard, although you could use any DPDT momentary center-off switch. To cover the holes, derek put tweeters in them.

We used the front motors, but I guess the rear windows go all the way down, so they may work too.

the little crank plug sat flush with the door panel when i had the spal kit in my crx
the didnt really have any complaints about the spal kit, it worked great

but i upgraded to the jdm kit, i just like the switches better and liked the way it replaces the entire regulators instead of screwing someting ontop of them

both are pretty inexpensive i got the spal kit w/swithes and shipping around 150
and the jdm kit came with swithes and was less than 200 shipped

I have the Spal kit in my 91 hatch and I love it!!! Everything works great, I got the 2-switch kit to save a little money and mounted the switches in my '99 teg center console so both driver and passenger can operate them.

Where did you get your JDM kit? I'm kinda interested in getting one. I'd go SPAL but if it's a matter of $50 then I'd go JDM.

I've read that it is not as simple as it seems to install the JDM kit, but you can find them on Ebay, one just sold for almost $400, it all depends on who wants one at the time and that will say how much you have to pay for it. I Guess I forgot to signe up to get e-mails for the responses, it thought no one was responding when I posted this.

I think I will got with Spals

i got the jdm kit on ebay as well maybe i just picked the right time from the right seller but i'm pretty sure you can find another for the same price range

the install was actually pretty difficult even after i found some instructions on the net. I have my switches turned upside down so i have two switches on drivers side tricky part is knowing to rivet the usdm rails onto the jdm mechanism and then getting it in the door

If you have to change the rails on the JDM ones too, you might as well just buy 4D motors and JDM switches, it should be cheaper.

or if you have a hatch, the 4 door motors and the 4 door switches and wire the rear window switches to 00 Odessey (or other mini-van w/ motorized pop outs) motors mounted in the rear windows.

yeah that's a good point i thought of that as well but couldn't find anyone who wanted to sell just the jdm switches by themselves, people usually sell the jdm power window kits as a complete kit and wont part it out
