all the ecu s in all trim models of the 88-89 are supposely the "same"

thats maybe a code to designate them from trim mdoel to trim model..
as long as u got a PG7 from 88-89 it will work....

does anyone know whether or not the PM7 ECU (86-87 teg) can be chipped? I see people selling chips for them, however, I hear that they are very very hard to chip and require a different chip to make functionable.

PM7 is JDM ZC ecu...86-87 teg is still PG7 but is different than 88-89. i dont think you can chip them...they dont run an internal coil setup anyways.

ok, thank you for the clarification. do you know which ECU between the two is supposed to be more beneficial to a moderately built d16a6?

there might be chips for the PG7 (86-87)
BUT
those ECU's are vacum advanced.... they will only work on advanced engines.. they have no use for our MPFI 88+
they wont turn ur engine on....

Are PG7 ECU's only from 86-87? The one I have on it is stamped with a date from 87. But I plugged the ECU in and the car started right up. If it were infact an ECU from 86-87, it should start right up, correct? I have yet to drive the car with the ECU in. THe car is still on the trailor.

1.) no - 88-89 also
2.) 87 is the date manufactured...its probably from an 88 if it runs.
3.) from what ive heard it shouldnt even run.

All basically the same.....no differences will be felt between them.
