engine hoist won't lift my engine more than 3in. off the ground
ok i pulled my old engine out of my crx sunday and went to go put the new motor in tonite any there is oil from the hoist all over the ground.is there any way i can fix the jack part of the hoist or am i fucked? i sort of need this motor to be in by tomorrow night and i don't wanna go through the bottom....
Hoist blew a seal....
You can refill it with hydrolic oil (about 10w).
It will probably hold long enough to hoist another motor,
but DO not trust it. I wouldnt go anywheres underneath the motor.
And dont tell me you left your other motor hanging on the hoist overnight.
That would be downright stupid, and a violation of federal treaties.

suxors, we had a lift go out on us mid swap
we ended up setting the front end of the car on the ground, and hand lifting it over the radiator suppor (4 burly guys)

There you have like he said fill here up, but don't take to long doing the job.

AutoZone doesn't rent hoists (I tried last week). Find where the oil leaked from, if it's not at the piston, refill it and seal it, or borrow a different hoist.
