motor swap without engine lift?
my dx motor on my 94 coupe is about to turn bad, so im lookin for another b7 for cheap. i love the 38 mpg and still match up with some v6's. anyways how much does the longblock weigh? and will 5 guys be able to do the job without a engine lift? like take off valve cover, oil, headers, IM, it should be pretty light right?
were thinkin of jacking the car really high and then put the motor under it, then pull the motor up to its place under the hood. thanks guys

Re: motor swap without engine lift? (civiccoupe94)
i do swaps like that all the time. i never use an engine lift.
i think its easier. you will probably need at least one other person to help you.

Re: motor swap without engine lift? (komat)
What i usually do is take off the front wheels and put a creeper under my motor. i then proceed to lower the car til the motor is resting on the creeper (DO NOT LET THE CAR REST ON THE CREEPER, JUST THE MOTOR). keep the jack holding the car in the same position then, unbolt all the mounts and anything else that is holding the motor there. after the engine is completely disconnected from the car, jack the car back up and make sure your engine doesnt tip over when you slide the engine out on the creeper.
This can be done with 1 person as i've always done it by myself and im only 5'7" 135 lbs
