Or if you are my local dealer, you adjust the valves every 30,000 miles (no, I don't actually go there, but a friend's wife just paid ~ $300 or $400 for her 30,000 mile maintenance on a '99 Accord, it included adjusting the valves even though her car was running perfectly).

it's my understanding that if you go over 6K on the valves will have to be readjusted.. is that true?

the valves doesnt need to be adjusted frequently... in my opinion, every 50k - 60k would be sufficient

every 60k or if they are really noisy, the more you redline you engine the more likely they are to come out of adjustment.

that year car gets valves adjusted at 30k and then only as required.with 120k on the car it probably wouldnt hurt to adjust them again.

If you have some minor mechanical inclination you can do it yourself. I did my Accord's a few months back around 36k miles and found that most of the clearances were too tight and they weren't very uniform (this is on a car that isn't supposed to need valve clearance adjustment until 105k miles). If your performance and fuel economy are fine and they aren't noisy, they really don't need to be adjusted. They've got to be pretty far out of spec to cause a noticable problem.

I believe the Helms manual states to check the valve clearence every 15,000 miles I cehcked mine after about 10,000 miles and my exhaust side valves were loose so check them out its not that hard to do with the help of a friend.

240k+ miles. Haven't adjusted for way longer than 50k. Engine's running fine. Need to adjust sometime soon, though.

I adjusted mine at around 120,000 miles, and they were just a little off on both sides.....they shouldn't need adjustment but once every 50-65,000 miles....any more is overkill ..
