Just bought 4th gen hatch and the shifter is very stiff

Just bought 4th gen hatch and the shifter is very stiff what can I do to make it smoother and how???

the shift rod bolt, the one that's transverse right below the shifter, might be too tight, poss. need new bushings. If its hard to get into gear it could need a clutch cable adjustment. Otherwise, maybe check tranny fluid.

It will be the bolt underneath I had the exact same problem with mine when i got it. because it had been sitting lying around for a while it got seezed and tight but it only takes a couple of mins to fix like doctor zagato says.

some times if clutch needs adjustment can make the shifter a lil hard to put on gears.,.
if thats not the case and even hard on neutral, i would lubricate and grease the whole shift linkage....
