alright, this relates to a civic, but oh well. My friend and I installed an hd00 clutch with an 8.4# xact flywheel. Install went smoothly except the axle bolts
Anyway, 250 miles later, something went wrong...
So, until that point, the car drove nicely, and it felt like my clutch, so I wasn't worried about it. The only thing was this squeaking noise. I thought nothing of it, since it sounded like the brakes, you know, *squeak squeak*. Well, it got worse, but not a whole lot. It just got a little louder. After the break-in period, the noise went away, but the engagement point went up almost to the top of the clutch pedal movement
Now, the car runs fine and everything feels good, but it's that engagement point that has me worried. Anybody experienced this before? I'm kinda worried because I don't want to take everything apart again...
Thanks

The engagement point should not be at the top or close to it. Normally with that clutch it actually is a bit low. It sounds like maybe the pedal was adjusted too much causing preload on the hydraulics. It sounds like the clutch linkage may not have been lubricated properly as well causing the noise, but that's a quess.
So Dirk, how can we readjust the clutch so the engagement point is lower. Can I just bring it to a clutch place and they can do it for me? I have the same problem too w/ the ACT clutch. The engagement point of mine is very high...almost at the top
The engagement pt on my ACT XTSS is very tight...it grabs like an inch off the floor lol. Idk if this is good or not...I had a squeaking noise too, yesterday, but today I noticed it was my brakes (the dust shield? was rubbing)...

Have you tried adjusting the pedal? If it has gotten progressively worse I would double check the hydraulics and check to see if the flywheel heat sheild is warped on your aluminum flywheel.

It is a simple adjustment at the pedals where the rod pushes from the pedal to the master cylinder. Simply undo the locknut on the rod and adjust the rod and lock the nut down again. This rod pushed directly on the master cylinder piston. All you are doing is adjusting the freeplay. It the pedal is extremely high then I am suspicious what clutch was in there before to get the adjustment so far off. Usually our clutches and many performance clutches will actually make the pedal engagement lower, but not always. Instructions for adjusting the pedal are included with every ACT clutch. I am suprised how many questions I still get about it.
