Default special edition gsr

this kid i know has either 98 0r 99 integra special edition gsr, it has a b18c1, but has an ls cluster nad ls wheels, all came like that from the factory, everything original, i don't think the vtec works my ls beat it, i've drivin stock Gsrs before none were this slow, redline on the cluster says 6900rpm, really wierd, can anyone tell me if the vtec didn't comehookedup or something, i'm really curious.

Youve seen the motor?

Does it say "Special Edition" on the badge on the back?

Special editions are nothing more than GS' which are nothing more than LS' with leather, cd player, spoiler, "gsr" wheels, etc.

As others have said, the Special Edition is basically a GSR w/o the engine. Have you popped the hood to see if he actually has a B18C1?

u'll wanna check to see if the vin #'s match up... special editions and gsr's are supposed to have identical everything(leather, moonroof, painted sidemoldings, etc.) exception of the different engines.. special edition's do not come with b18c1's in them... remember that the 94-95wheels are 5 spoke... 96-97 gsr wheels are also the ls mesh... and the 98-01 wheels are swirlies...

1997 GSR=mesh rims
'00-'01 LS=mesh rims (i think that's right )

anyway, just pop the hood and look at the block....it's right in front next to where the tranny bolts up....that won't lie

i cheacked the block it said b18c1, and the valve cover says dohc vtec, and so does the rear badge, the engine is definately a b18c1, but it feels so slow and the rpm guage says redline right under 7000

rmove the driver side kick panel and it shoudl have a list of number, the middle section will say something like p72 or something (i think)

btw even my b18b1 can rev to 7000k before the fuel cut off

he said he checked the block and it said b18c1...my guess is that hes running the ls ecu. also like osmeone else mentioned, check the vin from the block and the chassis, they probably will not match up.

maybe they never replaced the cluster/ecu w/the engine swap.
