how much does a 93 cx gas tank weigh?? vs 5 gallon fuel cell??
just like it says in the title.. just curious.. i am going to put the cx on a diet next week and i am thinking about a fuel cell. what does everyone think??
Your 92 CX has a 10 gallon tank. I would say about half as
much, or a little more. I think you could find easier and cheaper
ways to reduce that small amount of wheight.

i know it has a 10 gallon tank but how much does it actually weigh? pounds?? the tank is some sort of metal so i figure at least 40lbs empty.. so if i install a fuel cell that weighs 5lbs that is 35lb reduction at least not to mention less gas.. right or what???

yeah, but im sure when u race, no matter how many gallon gas tank, you do it on as less gas as posible. 1 or 2 gallons maybe, so we really cant count gas can we

yea but if you took out a cx hb gas tank and weighed it empty next to a 5 gal fuel cell it would be lighter right?? assuming of course the gas tank is made of metal/steel...etc?? right or am i nuts
probably

I've been weighing (no pun intended) the option of installing a fuel cell for a while now. Trying to figure out $ vs weight.
Since I work in a Junkyard (Automotive Recycling Facility), I think I need to grab a gas tank and weigh it.
I'll try and grab a tank tommorrow and throw it on a scale.

i only think one person has read my post.
i only think one person has read my post.
I am also curious ot the weight difference.... I wouldn't mind dropping my stocker for a lighter cell....
Okay. there weren't any Honda Civic tanks in the bin. But I pulled out a random small sized foreign car tank. Completely drained of all fluid with the sender still in it and some of the hoses, it weighed 22lbs.
It looked to be approx the same size as a 88-91 Civic hatch tank.

Dude i understand what you are saying....trust me i too hate people that dont read a post and just type something not having anything to do with what your asking....
But yeah i dont think that the gas tank wieghs anywhere near 40lbs...just like he said another one wieghed 22lbs or so?
So civic is maybe around 20-25lbs..... Why how much does the 5gallon fuel cell wiegh?
I think you might be better off buying a light wieght battery they are only 11.5lbs and a stock one i belive wieghs...30lbs...thats like almost 20lbs right there!!
And there have been plenty of posts where these only cost around 25-30 bux for one!!
