92-95SI tranny is the same as 92-95EX tranny. 96-00EX tranny has the same gearing as 92-95EX/SI tranny, but has a stronger shifter fork. Any d-series tranny should bolt right up. However I wouldn't bother with anything other than an EX/SI tranny.
thnx for the fast reply, i really want to get a swap and giving myself 1 month to gather all the parts, heres is my "to get" list:
ex/si tranny
axles
hydraulic lines
p28 manual ecu
shift linkage
pedal assembly
clutch master cylinder
clutch slave cylinder
starter
place racing mount.
driving 5spd for dummies book
does that seem complete? i might look for an si guage cluster too, but not sure yet. thnx.

uhm, thats what i thought too. i have a 98 ex tranny in my hatch. all of the gears seem to be the same except for 5th? my g/f's 95 ex 4-door. i think like 80mph was 4k rpms..... i dont remember. i know my rpms are lower for the speed in 5th. i would have to go drive the car and refresh my memory. this made me this i had a dx tranny or something, but i looked at the numbers on the sticker for tranny type, and then looked at the numbers on a 98 stock ex that came trhough my work, same numbers... i dont know? maybe i have a freak tranny. and yes. all d-series trannies will work on a d-series engine. just make sure you keep 92+ for hydrolic and 88-91 for cable.

hmmm... also another question.
would the parts that i have to get be all from the same year? or could i mix it up ex: 00 si pedal assembly, 94 shift linkage, etc....

read the page bro.
acceleration wise the hatch/del sol si has the quicker gear (numerically higher). The coupe and sedan 5th may be good for those who get a 4.929 SRR final drive and want the mph a little lower.
My SRR final should in my spare vtec tranny soon. Ill let everyone know how it is if i get off my *** and put it in my car. (4.929 srr unit).

how can you tell the difference between the Si and EX tranny just by looking at it? I have both trannies sitting in my garage and I want to know which one is which so that I can get the Si one rebuilt....TIA
A (92-95) tranny will have a sticker on top with S20
Right on passenger side of diff it will have...
b0000= ex/si tranny short gears
a0000= long gears
Same rule applies for S40 trannies(96-2000)
