Re: Ex / Si Tranny question (tominos)
only difference that I'm aware of between the 2 trannies is that the 96-00ex tranny has steel shifter forks. Other than that, they are the same.

the 94 si tranny grinds thrid gear. and my tranny only has 60,000 miles on it. the 94 si tranny has over 160,000.

To save time and a lot of headache, you should just look for a new tranny to swap in. I don't think it would be anymore than $200, look for something around $100-175. It would be a lot easier than ripping the tranny apart and having to deal with all the little pieces inside the tranny. Just a suggestion, good luck.
