Best production year for Type R's?
I am looking to buy a ITR, I am absolutely in love with them. I live in NYC and I haven't seen anyone around here have one. Anyway I am currently in the process of getting a Honda Prelude 99' Type SH. I should be good to buy a Type R in a few months so I wanted to know which year is the best and how much should I be looking to spend for one (under 60k miles, as stock/bare as possible)? Sorry for the newbie question in advance!

If you live in NYC dont forget a garage and numerous theft deterrent measures.
Personally I dont think there is a "best" year for ITRs. The 00-01s seem to dyno a bit higher but the CW of the 97-98 roXors.

I don't think there is a best year; however, I honestly think the '00 and '01 model years are the best (for me) combination of parts and represent the final development phase of the ITR.
For example, the '00 and '01 cars are the ones that have the CTR intake cams. AC is standard in USDM. Titanium shift ****. Little things like that.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You cant go wrong buying any ITR. Just pick a color.

However, if you want the look of the '00 nose in white, go for a '98.

best of both world, import one from Canada, 2001 CW... comes with red seats for the extra bling factor!

That's exactly what I did....I plundered the great country of Canada for a 2001 CW Type R with about 6k miles. Best of all worlds: Championship white and all the 00-01 mechanical upgrades (however small).

Lots of people in NYC have had ITRs - before they were stolen.
Seriously, if you do not have a private garage attached to your house, don't get one in NYC. It will not last a year.

I think there's a yellow ITR for sale around the NYC area. I saw it at the M-Club autox event about 3 weeks ago. If you hit up the autox at the meadowlands or nassau colesium you just might be able to see it. Depending on where you live in NYC, I'd advice greatly on a safe place to park the ITR.
98's dont come with a Titanium shift ****? What is their shift **** like in the 97,98's? Like a GSR's?
The 99's wern't shipped to the US, right?
