what are the differences if any between a 1998 Type R and a 2001 Type R

There's too many to list, what exactly are you looking for? engine differences? what?

 

Different colours offered.

Slight increase of intake cam duration.

A/C standard in '00+.

Minor interior differences. Insignificant differecnes in details.

what i mean is there any reason why one would wanna buy a 2k or a 2k1 over a 98 model ?

are there mechanical or cosmetic features that are not there on the 98?

 

like the dude said... 00 and 01 have a different intake cam.. come in different colors and I don't think the 98 had the titanium shifter or the CF trim but I could be wrong on the last 2.

you're right on those two

 

so the 00 and 01 models cams "better"???

 

i believe the 00, 01 intake cam is a slightly higher lift cam I'm not sure how much more it produces powerwise though

 

The 00-01 has a different ECU i believe than 98, plus the immobilizer.

 

unfortunately it dun seem the immobilizer helps much in the anti theft dept =/

 

So there is no diffrence in performance between the two?

 

technically I guess the 00/01 is a little faster how much faster I dunno.. you could jsut get a CTR intake cam and then I beleive all things would be equal.

Championship White... accept no substitute.

Ultimately, if you follow up on all this jive... the differences are exceedingly minor between 97-98 and 00-01.

Your post title says 02, however - and that is a horse of a different color... even if it is also Championship White.

What do you guys think...... i found a guy selling a MINT 98 CW typeR with 34k on the clock he is asking 19k for it would it be out of the question to offer him 18k cash ?

you can offer what you want bargain... sure it's a great car an I'd put the value at around 18-19 for that car. But bargain if you can I mean who wants to spend more then they have to.
