No, they are part of a component set. Horns are used instead of tweeters.
Have you listened to them yet? I'd love hear a set of properly installed horns.

I'm really behind on times.
What are the advantages of these over tweeters?

LOL. Sorry, that made my morning.
Horns are super efficient. Most get over 100db at 1watt! At full power most will get 120-125 db, so finding midrange/midbass to keep up with them is normally the problem.

Well that's good, I suppose, lol.
But I thought they'd be those super high-frequency horns that kill your hearing.

Horns are extrememly efficient....6W will tear your head off. I guess I could hook them up to work with an alarm...send them their 150W handling, and I would permanently make them deaf.
I'll post some more info on them later if you guys are interested.

Cool. So you are not going to connect the 2500 to these?

Mine too
I loved to see someones face after having those go off.
rcurley if you ever want to do this let me know I can make you plans for an oscillator that will oscillate at what ever frequency you want.
I would bet the theif would sue you after he went deaf LOL

No, I didn't buy them from eBay...I got them new, authorized from sounddomain for under $300 shipped - steal of the century!
I just can't wait to get them cranked up. For those who don't know, here's the characteristics:
Some of the pros:
- Very efficient as noted....6-15 Watts each is PLENTY
- Because of the controlled dispersion, they image and stage VERY well out of the box.
- Because of the efficiency, they are difficult to match with mids. To do this, get efficient mids, and for every Watt you send to your horn, send 3 or more to your mids and 5 or more to your subs (mine will look like 1-4-12
)
- They are very dynamic - a snare drum almost slaps you in the face. B/C of the horn, a very small displacement by the diaphram creates a large displacement in the horn.
- People describe them as more of a experience then listening to "conventional" speakers
- You can still image well with door mounted mids
- They take some additional fabrication, but it takes the guess work out of aiming kickpanels
Cons:
- Need a separate amplifier channel, and a steep slope x-over is recommended.
- Large size, in a civic (or most any import) it will interfere with pedals and foot room. Perfect for VW's or Audis - they both beg for horns. The strange and cruel irony is that a Civic is the PERFECT horn car - a relatively symmetric dash, flat top, and a small center console.
- They do better with an EQ then conventionals - meaning tonaly, they are not quite as good as a set of conventionals. Let's put it this way, I wouldn't be running 31 bands of EQ per side unless I had horns, but a 5 band parametric is plenty to clean them up.
And that's about it. I personally can't wait to get an audition...but I have so much left to do before I can hear them...arrrggg....gotta stop typing and get the mids in the damn doors.
Hopefully my other crossover shows up today! Thanks for listening to my techno babble....I'm just so excited to get them in...I'be been staring at them for at least a year, and every day they complain about sitting in the box....

I'm assuming that you mean the factory alarm module - that white one? My case is a bit special b/c of the horns, but when I had my Hex in kicks, I just mounted it on the firewall. The same is true for the ECU, but with the horns I think I will have to extend the harnesses....and that's no fun....

Good luck with the finished product.
