Default would upgrading my oil and water pumps hurt my engine?

hey guys i am gonna be putting my B18B1 into my car next weekend and im gonna do the routine maintenence aka timing belt, oil pump, water pump. Within a year of putting the engine in i plan on going to an LS/Vtec setup and i know your supposed to use a Vtec oild pump on a vtec head but my question is would it hurt my B18B1 engine to put a type r oild and water pump on it now without the vtec head? is there such a thing as too much water and oil flow. I dont really want to have to buy another set of pumps when i do the head swap

you dont need vtec pumps to do lsvtec...LS pumps=LS timing belt, Vtec pumps=Vtec timing belt.

The pump that determines what belt you use is the water pump. You can use a GSR/ITR oil pump without any modifications. If you use a GSR/ITR/B16a water pump, you must you a GSR timing belt. If you use a LS water pump, you must use a LS timing belt. This is for an LSVtec though. I am not sure about a straight LS. I would think it would probably work too, but not sure.

nah vtec timing belts have different number of teeth than LS does.....

but its a good idea to upgrade if high revs are planned, where vtec pumps flow higher volume than LS.

ok so just for the sake of clarification it is
A) Possible to put an itr oil pump and water pump on an LS engine
B) Safe to put the two afformentioned peices of equipment on a relatively stock LS engine

yes. ITR water and oil pumps will BOTH fit on ls engine.

With those you will need b18c timing belt.
