im glad you have fun.. but please according to who, is that what this car is "meant for?"
the majority of people i know that have that opinion end up doing barrier wall- body modifications.

according to HONDA
the ITR was engineered specifically for track use. It was NOT designed with comfortable street use in mind... that's what makes it so special. Every single modification that
did to the car makes it faster and more consisitent on the race track.
(now if I could just get some $$$ together for a track day or two...

is that right? so the a/c and the stereo is for track use. same for the coin tray, ash tray etc.

i can completely agree with that, however that isnt the arguement that some people make.

What about in Japan? Curious if A/C and stereo were standard equip in 96 spec ITR.
Regardless, I guess the car still has a back seat, if Honda *really* wanted to sell it as track ready they would not have included that. Use the R for whatever you want, however those of us who have tracked the car, I swear the car seems to be 'grinning' the entire time while its out there. LOL

Its not supprising that ITR owners realize what he car was built for, and the other integra owners just dont get it. Whatever...

It's probably erroneous to say that the ITR was made "for" track use, although it's certainly true that the car's a delight on the track, right out of the box, and doesn't need much in the way of performance modifications.
Its evident reason for existence was to homologate the car for any number of series in which it was involved. In other words, in order to put the DC2 on the track with the B18C5 motor, removed weight, and then added weight in the form of chassis bolstering and shock tower re-enforcement, Honda would have to prove that the ITR was really a production vehicle.
Hence, the ITR had to hit the streets just so they could race it. But, obviously, the race cars are not going to have carpet and back seats. LOL...
The way they did it was very expensive, and you'll notice that they don't do it with the EP3 and DC5. Those cars, even the "R" versions and raced versions, are not modified the same way the DC2 was modified for racing.
For what it's worth, other manufacturers frequently get caught having to do the same thing. The 1974 Porsche RSR comes to mind. Most of these homologation specials are not sold in the numbers the ITR was sold, nor are they usually so cheap that so many of us can own them.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Oh, it was you..hehe.
I am the Asian guy with the USDM CW that waved at you once. Sorry that I don't have time to say hi as I have errands to run around all-day-long...who was with the JDM one? Me and my club members were hanging out near the grid in between Robert's PY ITR and Matt's red H1 EG.
I thought I wasn't gonna make it and collapse to heat-stroke yesterday, god! It was freakin' hot out there.
PS. To get back on the flame topics...I attest that the brake pads are not for track use for sho!

Sorry - it's not buddy.
F355 Challenge car - that's purpose built by the factory for tracking. Integrated cage already built-in =
An ITR is a homogation car - which is different than a "purpose built track car." I'm sure even an intermediate driver could go out there and toast the stock brake pads in short order, not to mention the alignment settings are "minivanish" in nature from the factory.
This isn't a knock on the car, but I really don't see how it is God's Chariot on the track.

They both are my crew from NY. Don't worry, everything is cool, it's just the front bumper. The E46 M3 driver doesn't know what to do out there and brake hard in the middle of T4 (Chute), even though my friend gave him at least 3 car length before the initial turn-in, he still need to brake hard to avoid rear ending him which resulted in the spin.
On the track car issue, I remember those Ferrari Challenge cars are not street-legal...The intention of ITR, quote by Best Motoring from Honda is to "build for weekend tracking and picking up groceries on the way back home."
Honda did purposely built the car to convey enthuasiasm to the buyer for track usage, however, it is Not "dedicated".

Uhm, your freind got rear ended and that is what sent him into the tire wall? That is not good.

I was the driver of the car in question.
It happened because I was trying to avoid a track newbie who made a glaring mistake which cost me to lose control of the car. I already had lifted off the throttle and was coasting (car was settled) into T4 when the driver ahead of me literally mashed the brakes. I've gone through that turn with very light braking to slow down for traffic before (in the same session no less) but this time around, the car just suddenly came around on me.
If anyone, I probably feel the worst out of everyone involved since it wasn't even my car. That and the fact that I wasn't even pushing the car since 1) it wasn't my car and 2) a good number of drivers out there were first timers. And honestly, I need to stay away from novice groups since they're the most unpredictable drivers. Especially when they're driving high dollar machinery.
Like everyone has told me before and after the incident ... it's was bound to happen sooner or later. The more events you attend, there is always a chance that something like this will happen. I just feel horrible because it was behind the wheel of a friends car and not my own.
But no worries, the car will be show kaa quality again.
