Other than the fact that they're associated with "rice," I'd like to see one being dynoed. Technically is is drawing air in from an optimum place.

Keep the stock box or Mugen or Comptech Icebox. The only place I would actually try to run these front mount intake is at the track or dragstrip.

http://www.speedstash.com/intercooler.html the kit comes with :Dynamic Auto Design and R1 introduces the front mount intercooler intake system. This innovative design combining the performance of a cold air intake along with the safety and power of a high performance hood scoop, the front mount intercooler intake system draws in rammed cold air safely and directly into the throttle body. Producing raw horsepower and the growl of a high performance intake system as expected. Using the protective shield included with this intake kit, you can shield off water and moisture whenever you please. Included are all piping, intercooler, hoses, adaptors, instructions, and shield. T6061 aircraft grade aluminum, perfect fit and instant horsepower increase. its about 160$

True to some extent. But any other setup will yield the same results, whether you have it in the fender or a short ram.

At least you'll have a huge fan blowing directly where the intake duct is.

If it has a shield in front of it then where do you get the " ram" effect? That just totally blocks air from hitting it.... its just a stupid wanabe intercooler

That intake is JDM right? That's the one that comes on all the CTR and ITR's over in Japan? it is SWEEEET, screw J's racing and AEM, I'm going for the front mount.

How is that area any better than the lower fenderwell?
There is no lack of air in the fenderwell, and I don't see it being much cooler. (definetly not enough to make any noticable difference).

When you are driving there is no ram air effect with this intake. When you are driving air is hitting the filter head on, is the TB/IM right behind the IM? No, there is a ton of piping before air ever gets to that area and the air has to make a 90 degree turn RIGHT away. This just causes turblent air, not a ram air effect.

On our cars ram air has little to do with ramming air into the intake, and more to do with resonate waves bouncing off closed valves and amplifying in the IM plenum.
