Removing Stubborn Header Burn Marks
I've used Brasso and Blue Magic Polish. The header definitely looks better. However, on top of the primaries right in front of the head, there are some surface burn-type marks that cannot be "polished" off. I've tried both cleaners, lots, and lots of of elbow grease, and it will not come off.
Anything else I can do to remove it. It feels like it's within the steel. I'm not sure how to describe it.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of polish do you recommend? I've already tried the Brasso and Blue Magic recommended here, and it didn't work.
I believe it's pitting. It almost looks like a layer of the surface is "burned", but there is no difference in feel or texture.

Start with a 2000 or 1500 and work your way down never want to start too heavy cause it will make it harder for you to get it back to original look. Once you find the right grit to do the job you want then you want to work your way back to the 2000 this will polish it and you can remove the 2000 grit scratches with metal polishing compund.
Another thing you can use is an Abrasive pad like Brillo. We use this on out Stainless steel pots and pans all the time. I also have a Dremel attachment that was ver instrumental in removing corrosion and dirt from my exhaust.
If you are concerned about the header rusting after this if it is NOT stainless steel then yes it will rust and you can spray a CLEAR 1200 degree paint on it to protect it. VHT makes this.
Dremel abrassive wheels Part number 511 is good for removing rust and pitting. I even used this to polish my intake and exhaust ports. I finished it up with a POLISHING WHEEL Dremel #520 already contains polishing compound but you can add more rouge.
This is another idea is to get a high grit rouge compound and use a dremel and work your way down to the fine for a mirror like finish.
