i am very interested in the J's racing intake after reading many posts on this board. i was jsut wonderig how the sound of the intake compares to the sound of an AEM CAI. is the J's sound much louder compared to stock once vtec crossover? any impressions as far as sound would be appreciated

 

Am I correct in assuming u are going to choose an intake based on it's sound?

 

It is louder than an AEM IMO. I love my J's

Yes loud... but really good loud

 

its only loud at WOT, otherwise its fairly quite, just a tad louder than stock.

 

does the j's have that damn wannabe turbo whistle at part throttle?

who me my car broken... Going to the expo I had a 10 foot bolt fall off my alternator wich gave me the loudest belt squeal ever.. my car is now slower since i had to add that weight back on.

check with the local online dealers around here.. r and d, ips, aj and the like. they may have one.

 

the J's intake is very deep and at WOT Vtec it's loud but a very very pleasing kind of loud.

is J's better than the comptech ice box. sorry for my ignorance, but does the J intake sit low to the ground like the AEM or is it a short ram intake like the icebox that gives power gains in the mid range rpms? just that, i always thought the ice box was the best for the dc2 overall even though its like 300 bucks.

Im guessing the reason he wants the intake is because of what he has read regarding peoples opinions and dyno numbers. Now he wants to know what it sounds like.

Its loud and agressive... personally I think it sounds great.

yes, its louder then AEM CAI.

 

I don't agree. I thought my J's (now Misfit's) was quieter than my AEM.

Still loud, but not so shrill and obnoxious in the upper RPM ranges.

It was deeper, more full, and not as crazy as the AEM, much better.

Anyhoo, it sounds nice, it does a good job, buy it.

exactly. like I said. good loud. not obnoxiouse loud like aem..

 

Maybe your J's/my old J's is the only one that is not louder than an AEM.

I did sprinkle some of that J's JDM magic dust all over my engine bay, but I hear that stuff replicates, so you probably aren't missing any of your own magic dust....

 

actually there was some still in there I made JDM Koolaid out of it.
I didn't know you were supposed to sprinkle around the engine bay.
