My radio when racing
heh i had this problem too, i took it to an audio place and they found out the orignal owner of the car didnt use the correct dash kit to install the deck therefore when i race (shift hard) (gun it) they whole thing comes out fast at my fist where im trying to shift... haha, yea get it fixed by purchasing and installing the right kit for it.
I have never taken my Type R's radio out, but from what I remember reading there is a nut/screw that holds the radio in from below. You have to get to it by taking the ashtray out...I think.
Maybe that nut/screw worked itself loose.
Correct me if I am wrong guys...

Happens alot. Put a little loctite on it when you re-tighten the screw. Don't bother using a Phillips, all you're going to do is strip them. Ask me how I know.

lol, i feel dumb for asking how to get the ashtray out...i'm not a smoker
. I figured that out pretty quick, but i can't seem to locate the screw that holds the housing in place. I can feel two screws...but that's about it...and they sure as hell don't seem like they are in a place that i can easily get to.

The two bolts that hold in the radio are right underneath it. They're 8mm. They're a pain in the *** too!
I took out my arm rest and center console with the shift boot on it. I had it all apart, and I had to undo those stupid bolts for the radio.
I was doing that antenna switch.

Mine had three screws located at the back of the headunit - accessible via the passenger or driver footwells. Use a torch and between the mess of cables you should see it - the screw heads point downwards and there is enough space to use a normal screw driver.

Why Len, how DO you know?
Mine came out at the 1/4 track (my only time going there)...hit the coffee mug and launched it into the back
