Personally if money is an issue... I would leave well enough alone till I had the money to be fixing the problems I create.. especially if you aren't sure if it would work.
I honestly don't see a problem in using the 2 cams together... I have seen similar things done with smaller cams.. ie.. Jun 2 with stock R exhaust cam ect....
