Default intake manifold...how do you best check for a leak?

hey there.
I'm still wondering where my hesitations are coming from. There is a distinct whistling sound when I accelerate at lower rpm range. I'm not sure if its from my skunk2 manifold leaking or just the normal sound of the system.
Vacuum lines are tight. Is there an effective way to check for a leak? I can't imagine there is one. I was so careful in installing it using a little hondabond with the gasket.

Try spraying some WD-40 around the gasket areas in question. If the idle stumbles or fluctuates, you may have a leak.

won't the wd40 eat into the gasket material and cause leaks? i don't think that is a wise way to go. I thought that measuring the vacuum pressures at certain points are good indicators.

WD 40 wont hurt anything but if you hit a vac leak with it, it will suck it into the engine. The engine will burn it and when it does that the idle will change for a few seconds. Don't use a carb cleaner spray as that might hurt a gasket but WD 40 is just a simple lube.

I used to spray carb cleaner on the gasket. If the idle is improved the gasket is shot.

i have used wd40 to remove stuck on gaskets before.
I wouldn't use it to check gaskets if they may be ok and are brand new.

My idle runs perfectly so maybe there is no intake manifold leak? Only get hesitations at certain rpms.

Use carb cleaner. Spray around the area you suspect is leaking, and if the idle goes up while you spray, you found your leak.

does anyone else have a skunk2 manifold? Is it normal to have a bit of a whistle sound on initial acceleration to about 3000rpm?

Ether/starging fluid/carb cleaner/anything that will burn will be fine. If it wistles there's probably a leak.

If you have a manifold leak, your idle will be horrible. It sort of sounds like somebody blipping the throttle about twice per second. BTW, I use WD-40 for detecting leaks around the gasket...

Just out of curiosity, are you running a AEM intake by chance???

no aem intake. I have my stock intake just that i have it removed from the box and have the filter just sitting there attached to the intake tubing. Its seems quite secure enough.

my idle sits perfect at 750 so perhaps its not a vacuum leak???? I hope not!! I was very careful in putting this all together again.
