I was 2 quarts low?!?!
Uhm, I just checked my oil cuz my oil presure was around 50psi at full throttle when it normally was at like 75 at WOT. I put two quarts of oil in it and it is still not really totally full. Now, I definately am not burning oil because no smoke is being blown and there is no oil in my exhaust tip. I do blow black smoke at higher RPM's because I am running 9.0:1 comp. I also have noticed that when I first started up my oil pressure would be hella low and my light would be on for 5 seconds. Not leaking anywhere too. So, I am running JE pistons, crower rods, total seal rings and darton sleeves and am awaiting my turbo install on the 15th. Also, the car sounds a little like a diesel when it idles. This normal for forged pistons or rather a built car? HELP!
don't worry my car sounds like that when it's at idle as well. most built motors do. as for the oil...better check it regularly, there's many oil problems with built/turbo'd cars.
I have the same problem. No smoke or anything, my oil just evaporates. I call it the self-changing oil system. I just keep dumping more in and checking it regularly. I've got 8.8:1 endyne pistons, eagle rods, etc
The thing is, the turbo isn't ont he car yet. As for the PCV thing, I am unsure to be honest how it is run because I did not put the motor in or put it together. It is really wigging me out, but I will do a comp check tomorrow just to be safe. BTW 75psi is normal operating oil pressure correct?
umm...damn, it might be your rings then. not sure at all...but it's either that or you're definately losing oil somewhere, maybe at a "T" or some line somewhere. oil doesn't just evaporate that easily.
**** man, it has me hella worried too. Again, I don't blow smoke other than black up at the top of my rpm band, and ther wasn't oily reside in the tailpipe. I have a greddy sandwich adaptor where my OP and OT read from and that isn't leaking. The ******* motor is brand new with 1500 miles total on it, and it was broken in properly. I will do a comp check tomorrow though to see if it could be the rings or something. ****, mabye it is just the motor I don't know. Runs great!

if your running synthetic then you wouldnt see it burn. I think...am i wrong??? i thought synthetic ant been seen when it burns??? are you leaking anywhere??? kinda dumb question but the same thing happened to me and my tee had cracked in the block and it was leaking but it wouldsn drip, it would just go all over my block and under my car all the way back to the gas tank????
if im not mistaken dont new motors go through oil quicker than broken in motors? 1500 miles isnt broken in so i wouldnt worry, check your oil drain plug to make sure it is seated properly and tight.
OK, well if that is the case that my motor will be going through oil much quicker than a stocker I am cool with that, I just need to watch it. I am new to the whole turbo car thing so I need to keep my eyes open.
My old built motor used to burn a far amount of oil. The clearences between the piston and cyl is *larger* then stock, so it will tent to burn more oil. Id have to add 1-2 quarts every few weeks to keep the oil up to level.

Could be numerous things.
1st off, blowing black smoke isnt cause your 9:1 compression. Its cause its running rich, but whya re you running rich if you dont have your turbo on yet? What fuel management? whats up with the rest of your setup?

I lost 2 quarts in my stock GSR motor between oil changes. I believe its because I am running oil thats too thin for an older engine (65k) 5w-30. I think 10w-30 will solve this.
