Default question about type R 3rd gear

ive never driven one but ive raced many and it seems as if third gear is when the world as we know it comes to an end
my question is this: when racing, do you benefit from going into third as soon as possible?i mean, would it make sense to redline 2nd gear or to just go in third sooner? the way i see it 3rd gear has the amount of torque that 2nd has in a normal car, if you know what i mean.
is it also possible to go really slow in third and still have the same amount of torque?
im just confused a bit because every other car feels different to race than a type r, i have kept up with them until third gear and its like magic or something, they just start fading into the future
this is a serious question btw: thanks

Type R's ARE magic!

No, you would not want to shift into third as soon as possible because you will not be in your powerband. You don't start from a stop in third gear, do you?

ok "world comes to an end"? "fading into the FUTURE"? what does that mean.

I've heard of fading into the past but never the future. Are you asking why the cars are so fast once they hit 3rd gear?
