slicks vs. radials

Default slicks vs. radials

i am looking into buying tires just for the track. what should i buy? i am also going to swap out the auto tranny for a manual later in the summer if that makes a difference. i am going to mount them on stock wheels.

If you want performance and you are going to use them @ the drags, Slicks are the only way to go. John@M&H

ok now i know that my car would have to make a certain amount of hp to make the slicks effective. is that true b/c i don't think i have the numbers for slicks.

89mph trap? Just get a set of Azenis. Cheap and more grippy than stock and just about adequete for your power level and super streetable.

okay, but i am going to change my auto to a 5 spd. i should get my trap speed up to maybe 95. can i still run radials or will i need slicks then?

A sticky drag radial should still be a good performer at that point but future power increases would probably necessitate slicks.

Hmm, you guys are lucky. Over here you can't run slicks in street class.
