delly. i still think the z.speed prototype exhaust is one of the best and unique sounding system! what do yall think?
this was Rhys Millen piloting my car during 2001... at the BFG G-force challenge. not sure if I ever shared it with yall. two small mpg's. you can hear the sound pierce through the air even when the car is at distance, and when it rolls by the front straight (as i was filming), i couldn't help but think, dang my car sounds good. hahah.

Itd be nice if that timbre could be had with a race (little to no muffler to speak of) exhaust. I can't help it, I like it loud and annoying.
Yeah like the sound of that!
I hope you guys dont mind but I am gonna run a test video to see if I can get it pasted here.
It has a little to do with car sound and an autox so here goes.
BTW This was the first race of the year for me and the first with the new motor, so on the last turn the vtec kicked in and I wasn't quite ready for it....I guess I put out about a 7/10 on 195-50-15 street tires.

Its probably the quality of the video but i cant discern it from every other melon launcher i hear on the street.

Some people have good hearing...I'm a CART fan, and I couldn't tell the difference between a Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, or Cosworth turbo V8, or whether or not the cars had a single side turbo setup or not. Other people can actually tell the difference between the engine note!

and if you don't give a damn why do you post a reply like that?
many have previously asked me if i have any vids from the g-force challenge as the video they produced (to sell) originally was really crappy and didn't have any good footages (of any car). i finally got around to u/l some of the vids i took and i know some ppl wanted to see 'em.

subie's flat 4 sound is.... unique at best. ;-)
just IMO.
i haven't tested any STi yet. but thus far i've been proclaiming evo8 as best sports car value/performance under $35k.

I have a bunch of high res photos from the g-force challenge. I'd have to look through them to find any pictures of your del sol though.

mmmm, subie flat4... in my very biased opinion, the STi looks much better than the evo, but i have never driven the evo, so i dont know how it performs in comparison. however, having driven the STi everyday, its hard for me to imagine the evo being better. just my biased opinion.

ps - evan sucks.

yes, I agree STi looks better. i thought evo8 was butt ugly at first but it has grown on me. in all mag reviews, the US spec evo8 vs. STi, they are saying evo8 is the winner despite STI having the active center diff.
i'm sure soon enough i'll sample the STi.

after driving both of them (i am lucky that i have friends at both dealers) hands down i'll be going after an evo in a year. i was suprised how much i didn't like the sti. here's a few reasons why:
-the sti feels heavy (not very responsive steering)
-the gearing sucks (2 shifts before 60mph)
-for 300hp it feels like you should be getting more push
-for the cost difference, i'll put the extra into the evo and smash sti's
here's why i liked the evo:
-great steering (i.e. feels much better conected to the road)
-it feels more and more stable as you push it to the tire's limits
-it appears to be very easy to work on
say what you will, but i am convinced.
-Scary

"Put the extra into the EVO and smash STis"
You do know that the EVO runs a lot more boost, and is closer to the edge of its performance envelope, right?
STi has more potential to make big power. But the EVO supposedly has all the intangibles that make a fine driver's car.

i am aware that the evo comes in a higher state of tune then the sti does, but from looking at the tuners who offer parts and services to upgrade both of these cars it seems that for the same amount of money that the evo saves you in purchase cost, you can meet or exceed the sti's level of power. at that level of power, 300hp at the flywheel, it would not seem that the evo is to the point of being over stressed.
i got mechanics at both dealerships to put the car up for me, and spend about an hour with each car on a lift, looking them over. mechanically i favor the evo's design to the sti
the point of my first post was to give you insight from someone who drove both cars, in the same area, on the same day.
i am an scca and emra driver, and i assure you both salesmen will remember that ride
(p.s. for those interested both cars 4 wheel drift well, the edge again going to the evo)
-Scary
