It sounds good as long as you're willing to take the risk of owning a car that's modded to the extreme like that. (In other words, don't expect any kind of reliability.)

OT: There are 6 PY ITR's on ebay right now.
If you can deal with the reliability issues of the car, then I would definately check it out in person.

Personally, I'd hate to race it; in a straight line anyway. It might be a good idea to set aside a little bit of money in case problems arise if possible. One thing to consider, if the 3rd gear grinding is more than just a little "grind" you may be paying $18-20K in the long run. Get the grind checked out before shelling out anything. Good luck and if ever in Raleigh with it, don't try to race a FBP with a Social Distortion sticker on the rear glass b/c I'm not looking to get stomped.
replacing a 3rd gear + syncros shouldnt run more than 800 dollars or so. how did you come up with 20k?

The only reason I say this is because I was going to buy an R from a Certified Acura tech in Charlotte would encountered the same problem before selling his and he replaced 3rd and it still whined/ grinded and actually contemplated a new tranny b/c he could get it at cost. It's still a bad-*** car & if that's all it needs, so be it.

i think he meant 18-20K TOTAL, as in $500-$2500 in extra costs.

$15700 is a good price.
However, do not expect this car to be completely reliable. Personally, i would never purchase a modded car like this one from anyone unless it were from a very close friend of mine and i knew it's history. In most cases like this, you are just buying someone else's problems, i know i sound optimistic but im just being honest. And i would not try pushing 22psi of boost on a non-sleeved block with only a power FC. I have heard of people hitting the 500whp marker on stock sleeves, but they were running a stand-alone and ran it on c16 octane while at the track.
Thats just my .02
