I would save up for adjustables. Ive had gr2s and agxs. It's like night and day difference with the more aggressive settings on the agx.

Absolutely not, they are comparable to Tokico Blue shocks, both of which are only marginally better than stock. My friend had Neuspeed Race on Tokico Blues and it was horrible, terrible ride, not nearly enough damping to handle those springs. You're going to need something like Koni Yellows to handle race springs.

GR2s on anything lower than stock are horrible. Had them on my old Maxima with Sprint springs...5 months later they're bouncing and blown. They aren't made for big drops, I'd save for AGXs or Konis like was said.

How are the GR-2's with a less aggressive drop? For example a Eibach Pro-Kit (drop of about 1.25).........

gr-2's are known as stock replacements, so they wouldn't last longer on a drop than a stock shock. Tok. Blues are better. But i would save up for some agx or 5-way tok's

The GR-2's and tokico blues arn't valved aggresively enough to handle stiff spring rates i.e. Neuspeed Race Springs.

I would say the Tokico Blues are a bit better than the GR-2's though. Prokits would work fine with the blues.

I beg to differ. I have been running neuspeed race and kyb gr-2's for about 4 months now and they are still like new. Ebelp on this board has been running this combo for way over a year and he is without problems as well. For a very cheap setup that will work for a good amount of time, I would recommend it. Obviously it won't ride as great as koni yellows, but $180 for four struts that work for a while is hard to beat....

I have Neuspeed Race on KYB AGX's, and I think its just amazing. Ive had other things like Koni Yellows and Red's and ****, but Its hasnt been as smooth as the AGX's. I run on the track sometimes 3 times a week, 2 minimum, and when I get there, I droper down 1 on front 2 on back then when I leave to go home I put them all on 4... and I havent had any problems, even sitting ona 40 profile tire, I dont much feel bumps, plus Ive never scraped anywhere, driveways, speed bumps I can go straight over them easily, for AGX!

4 months is nothing, put some stress on it and it'll far apart. Take it out for some serious auto-x sessions and see how long it last.

$180 is too much to have to change them within a year or so.

You mean you like the AGX's more than Koni Yellows?? That's gotta be the first time I've ever heard somebody say that.

Granted they won't be as nice as the yellows(hence the price difference) but for the price I think they are an excellent shock...and that they would hold the rates of the race springs fine.

I wasn't referring to that, I was referring to the fact that he likes the AGX's better than the Konis, and I was just saying I've never heard anybody say that before.

I am not trying to say this is the best setup evar, and will handle auto-x sessions regularly. I'm just saying for a daily driver and not beating the car too bad, this setup is perfect. If you do any kind of auto-x that will really stress out your suspension a lot, I would probalby stay away from race springs and gr-2s....

Im would look elsewhere before the gr-2's. They are decent shocks, but then again so are the stock shocks. Im not saying that gr-2's will blow because of the drop. It depends on how you drive it etc. etc.

They're a good shock for the money. And for someone who is just street driving or doing track/autox events w/o alot of mods then they're perfect.

that's pretty cheap. are they used or brand new?

I am using tokico blues with a 1.75 drop all around. They are firm but not Harsh.
the alternative were kyb g2's and agx's but the agx's were harsh even on the lowest settings. My setup has been working since april 2002. so far so good

I don't think you can get a better bang for the buck with anything other than AGX'es. I opted for some used Yellows and ended up getting a defective strut (rare, but not worth the risk).

AGX bang for the buck
Yellows Basically the best shock you can get..if you're going to hold on to your car for a while, they're rebuildable, they have a lifetime warranty, etc..totally worth it in the long run.;
