Low Temperature T-Stat and T-switch Questions???
Are there any negative effects of using a mugen thermostat and thermoswitch, with spoon radiator cap. I know they are used to keep the car running cooler, but is it too cool thus negating the benefits to the point of the engine not running at optimum temperature?
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you don't track your car, I really don't see any significant benefit from them.
Cheaper solution is to use Redline water wetter w/ proper coolant/water mixture for the summer. Then, fill it back up with just coolant/water mixture for the winter.
FYI, I've seen zero problems from Mugen thermo and rad cap + redline water wetter + I/H combo on our cars in GA.

So the mugen thermostat would be the better choice over the spoon for street driving? will my water temp drop to cold while driving on the highway with the mugen? I've heard spoon will do that..
That's what I'm worried about.
Especially after reading the other post about the engine running too cold, causing the ecu to dump too much fuel. This would negate the benefits of having a cooler engine for "better" performance.

I know spoon will run the engine too cold on the freeway.
From what a friend told me,
the mugen will not run the engine cold unless you have the heater on while driving on the freeway.
The spoon seems to be too extreme for those that want street more than track.
Spoon & Mugen t-switch do the same but mugen is much much cheaper

Thanks B2!
Do you know what the temperature needs to be running at to not be in "cold start" conditions which will cause a lost of horsepower as mentioned from the other post?

Does anyone know if either the spoon or the mugen are fail safe style thermostats? As in when they fail they fail in the open position as opposed to the stock one which fails closed?
